as much as I like Patrick Roy I'm not so sure it would be an ideal situation for the habs, I'm worried it would just turn into a complete circus, although I guess in a way it already is one right now... I wonder who he would bring in as head coach - Pat1993

yeah, why not, might as well have the full Roy experience... and he could replace Dr. Mulder with Dr. Zoidberg, that would be epic. |

see how they didn't have to ruin them with any unnecessary red. that's what i'm talking about.
may they wrap your fEEt in comfort for many miles. may they expertly absorb any and all impact that may have otherwise been transferred to your knees and hips. |

he'll be the strength and conditioning coach, the equipment manager, and the backup goaltender. |

I know some might not agree, but I’d hand the reigns to the franchise over to Patrick Roy. Honestly couldn’t be any worse then the Bergevin era. Maybe he could actually get us a number one centre? Lord knows it’s been decades.
But in all seriousness, how Trevor (frank)ing Timmins continues to keep his job is downright laughable. - Habsolute009
I know people like to rage about Timmins, and not undeservingly, but at the end of the day it is often the GM's call on who they pick.
So yeah, not all on him, but he sure helped.

The GM usually trusts the head scout with the 1st rounder. I know this is the case in MTL. However, I remember Gainey overriding Timmins to pick Price, and TT had threatened to quit. |

I think it is more the other way around, GMs more involved in top end of the draft than the bottom half.
There are a few times Timmins has had his pick put aside, if media reports are accurate.
While he is part of the problem, he is not the only problem with their drafting (and more specifically, development of those picks). |

Oh absolutely. But he advises and asses the talent available. Which if we are being honest, has been poor for a long time.
I’m actually one of the ppl who doesn’t want Bergevin back as GM. How many years and retools/resets and coaches is that man gonna get before he gets canned? I’d be more then happy to give Roy a shot. Maybe his fiery personality and abrasive nature would do the Habs well. I’d like a complete house cleaning at this point with the scouting department, management and coaching staff. A purge would be beneficial in the long run IMO.
Either way, just more putting thoughts to posts then something that’s even remotely possible. |

As much as I don't want MB to come back, I'd rather keep him than have Roy.

Never confirmed, but I've heard it multiple times. (frank)ed up story, especially for CBJ. Gainey thought Price would be gone by 5, when he wasn't he made him the pick. TT wanted Brule. CBJ was certain Brule would never make it past MTL and were going to take Kopitar. When Brule was there at 6, their WHL scout convinced the table to take Brule instead of Kopitar.
Doug MacLean has said the last part many times. |
