To me, he needs to not to stick check weakly around the net. Active stick but use the body.

That's the point. Voracek was the 2nd highest paid player on the team and is the epitome of a 1 dimensional player. Bad contract. Flawed on the defensive end of the ice. Hurt the Flyers.

The Flyers are getting more production and value out of a much less cap hit player.

- Captain_Ahab

NHL history is rife with top offensive players who didn't play on the PK. You know you can like a player and a trade without having to form ridiculous narratives. The Flyers traded a playmaker who is top 5 in franchise history in assists and transition player for more of a shooter and a net crasher who is a better player away from the puck. By the way, the Flyers for the 2nd game in a row are getting throttled at 5 on 5. They could use the transition skills of a player like Voracek. This game is 2-2 because of Carter Hart.

Penguins missing Crosby, Malkin, Carter and Letang. Still beating Toronto 5-1.

The Captain scored a great PP goal. He also stopped skating on the back check on the Panther game tying goal.

I’ve been telling the pens fans they need to trade malkin and letang. Looks like they’d be better.

Also, leafs suck.

Sanheim has to have that pass. Giroux had half an eye on the 4th panther trailer entering the zone. Giroux makes his fair share of poor back checking but that one is on sanheim and no one else

That is pretty amazing, especially with all the penalty killing Voracek did for the Flyers.

Sanheim in the middle with no one, G was falling back to the slot but the pass ended up coming through. Only saw it once but that’s what it looked like

See, this is the real knock Giroux if we ever put him back to center. It has nothing to do with his legs or whether or not he can skate. It’s that he doesn’t always put in the work defensively.

Truth does hurt.

Voracek was so valuable with his playmaking and assists that the FLyers missed the playoffs or lost in the 1st round 8 of the last 9 years.

2nd highest paid player on the team and was the epitome of 1 dimensional play.

Austin Matthews has 0 SH points. The difference: Matthews is a superior player compared to Voracek and has scored 40 goals in 3 of his 6 NHL seasons.

So Matthews is clearly is more valuable to what Voracek ever brought to the table and that outweighs the lack of penalty killing ability.

- Captain_Ahab

It’s 4 games in, take it easy. I do like what I’m seeing from Atkinson so far though.

Matthews is a franchise changing talent, younger abs player a different position than Voracek. I don’t understand why you’re making this comparison.

Sanheim got a piece of it but not enough. I disagree completely. Giroux wasn't looking at anyone. All Giroux had to do was continue skating all the way to the net and the goal most likely doesn't happen. Giroux screwed up.

3 for 3 in ridiculous narratives. Yea, Voracek was the reasoni why they missed the playoffs.

Matthews is more valuable than 99% of the players in the NHL.

So why wasn't that crosscheck called at the end of that play? NO consistency.

They’ve been calling those cross checks in front of the net tightly in every game I’ve seen so far. Of course nothing called there.

Thats the point.

Franchise changing talent can be paid high cap hits and still be one dimensional players.

Voracek is not a franchise changing talent yet was the 2nd highest paid player on the team. Therefore his one-dimensional play and cap hit hurt the team.
