Good effort. Outplayed the B's and did not abandon the game plan with irresponsible breakdowns in the 3rd period.

Scored with a handful of minutes left and made things interesting prior to the empty net goal.

They outplayed Boston. plain and simple. A little more puck luck on a the five hole Cozens (should have been goal), post shot and Thompson whiff....

I'll take this losing EFFORT over whatever we all have been watching over the past decade or so.

Good job. Keep it going. Happy to see that the game of hockey has returned to Buffalo, NY.

I agree. Besides a few turnovers the only thing that is concerning to me is the left side of the PP. it’s a sea of difference between having Eichel over there as opposed to tage.

Good read.

It's good to hear that the organization is re-investing in key areas to continue the rebuild.

In so many ways, the organization reminds me very much of a new franchise. It is why, in retrospect, I give Adams a Mulligan on his 1st year. He simply had little time, little resources and direction that Freddy was "the man"; to implement his vision.

Now, we are seeing signs demonstrating the organization is turning in the right direction by aligning The Do's with that Vision:
- hiring Karmonos
- drafting smartly
- restocking the Scouting staff
- hiring Ventura to buildout the Analytics Dept
- initializing Culture Change with
• retaining and adding Players who fit the Sabres profile, and who want to be here
• signing a coach who demonstrates proper leadership and a vision for a style of play that aligns with the overall vision (fast, exciting, north-south, possession, etc)
- hiring Galamini to do the heavy lifting in the Analytics build
- gaining input from the Coaching Staff on their needs

For once, it feels like a coordinated effort vs just saying something but doing other things.

We may very much be watching the next President of the Sabres developing and executing in a growth role aligned to that next step.

This Doubting-Thomas is woke to that reality.

I think 2 pass across goals let in by anderson were not his fault. No goalie stops those goals.

You are right about okposlow and dahlin though

- Sabretooth9

I watch the goalies pretty close as a former goalie coach at a high level. Every goalie in every game in every league requires luck to be on their side. Having said that both goalies had some luck on their side last night. I’ll give Anderson the first goal but the second he overplayed.

Jack vs. Doc….

Sabres want doc. Jack wants Jack.

Can’t really blame either. This isn’t a 4th line plug with a $750k contract.

Insurance company probably has more pull than most think. And that’s the company backing the $50 mill due Jack if poop goes sideways…

Some teams seem ok with Jack’s option. Are those teams flipping the bill for the $50 mill if the insurance company says F off?!?

It’s such a jacked up situation. And now the season is under way and you’d have to figure out cap situations in any trade that make it much more challenging.

Teams could make it work but are holding out for pennies on the dollar.

I like Adams holding firm. He’s come this far. Why the hell fold now.

1) top prospect (turcott, Byfield, krebs, zary, Zegras)
2) 22 first.
3)
4)
Cap as needed

Starts the discussion or piss off…

I’ll waiver on the 4th piece if the other 3 are solid.

I’ll take anchor contracts back up to 3 years

I’ll take a tarasanko hold celery and flip.

I’ll add in an Olofson or prospect (not a great one) to grease the wheels of a deal.

I’ll take a conditioned 23 1st …

There should be some wheeling and dealing for a, young, cost controlled, top 10 NHL talent… when healthy…

Solid, very solid.
I agree with most everything.

Could the Eichel Team be be turning the tide?
Emily Caplan's report of the strategy Eichel's Team is employing to overcome the reality of Sabres Dr Cappucino's expertise; through a number of dissenting opinions from Dr's also possessing expertise in this area...it is smart and could be rather successful. This Brisson guy is smart, smart, smart.

I do think we likely need to back off targeting 4 assets though.
I also think the Cap issues teams face is significant, necessitating a "Kucherov" timeline strategy for most teams to mitigate it.
December-ish timeline for the trade seems to be more realistic from that angle.

Anyone laugh at Halls aggressive bury into the empty net…he wasn’t sure how to celebrate after either…he definitely doesn’t regret ever playing in Buffalo

Depends IMO.
Luck = the intersection of preparedness and opportunity. Not 100% at all, but it does happen alot.

As an example...enough practice by the Goalie in protecting against the highest Danger Play of crossing passes down low, elevates the skill of taking away as much net as possible. The result is added pressure on the shooter to quickly and accurately hitting the higher percent scoring areas rather than just "getting it on net". Is that luck? I'm not so sure.

Luck to me is more like the stick breaking on a wide open net.

In a sense he got his way. He got the fat one-year deal that he couldn't have gotten with Boston before last year. However, he had to suffer through a few months of hell before getting to where he wanted to go in the first place.

anderson is average at best
okposo is slow
dahlin isn't a defensive dynamo
d-corps is weak spot
effort is there, finish is not

they'll be able to beat a small group of teams, will be able to hang with some others, might get lucky against better teams and don't have a prayer against the best teams that are on their game...
