As bad as I am with my criticism of Hughes, I at least give credit where credit is due and compliment his play, the I hate Myers crowd can't seem to do that.

how is fixing 3 massive mistakes at the cost of 1st and 2nd round picks a "great offseason"
- Codes1087

It wasn’t great it was brilliant. His past mistakes are irrelevant. It was a remarkable offseason

First check was borderline. The hipcheck he tried to throw has a long history of being a fight starter. It was good someone stepped in to slow Stillman's roll before he got carried away.

The 1st check may have been borderline, but Hoglander positioned himself to be in a bad position.
I find a big problem with today's game when it comes to the physical game, is that way to many players tend to turn away from physical contact putting themselves in a harmful position.
When players play in some of the Leagues like NCAA, SEL, Allsvenskan, Liga etc, their tends to be far less physical contact and the players develop tendencies to avoid contact, instead of absorb the hit.
This is creating a game today where we talk about edgework and analytics, like it is a figure-skating competition.

Nice stuff Carol.

I like the mention of Highmore scoring against the Hawks and Gaudette having not played a game yet.

Remember the outrage from that trade last season??

it doesn't bother me at all. The people that hate myers are consistent with the hate as you are, they just dont say they aren't going to continue hating on him every page and then do it anyway lol.

I hated Gudbranson as much, if not more than you hate Hughes, so I get it. We all have that one player.

I don't know who was outraged?

All he ever was in Vancouver was a shiny new piece on a poopty team.

Well, it's not a fair comparison because Highmore is a little more developed than Gaudette and Gaudette was hit hard by COVID-19 and the after-effects. A similar theme with the OJ trade for Lammiko/Juulsen. I'd wait 3 years before I declare who won those trades.

Oh there was a lot of hand wringing when the knives were out for Benning (prior to the OEL trade)

Nucker hasn’t made a sincere post in 6 months: I mean everything I write. If another GM was bright in to replace Benning and made these trades/ signings he would have a statue in front of the rink. It was remarkable. Remaking half the roster, building Abby, great RFA signings plus some decent UFA signings for a change. He should have been fired. He wasn’t, and had a brilliant offseason

Although I’d say fans won just because we don’t have to watch Gaudette waste prime opportunities. At least Sh!tmore is kept at the bottom of the roster.

Also (frank) you Ekland for censoring what we write
