nice of bowman to sign up for an account.
- Elbows15

I remember when Pulford used to trade for a 6th defenseman at the trade deadline.

Steve Larmer decided to kill his iron man streak instead of playing for the losers in the front office.

Dennis Savard had David Koci on the ice against Joe Sakic.

All of us who have been hanging around this franchise for decades should have some love for Bowman who rebuilt the roster twice and won 3 Cups.

How did that work out? I thank Bowman for all he did for the Hawks. It just may be time to move on. Or at the very least kick him upstairs and find a GM to take that half of his job titles.
- Elbows15

In any company guys get stale in the same position and Bowman has been in his since July of 2009....over 12+ years and counting. A fresh set of eyes on the roster, the farm system, hockey ops, etc....would be welcomed.

This is a really terrible take on what danault brings to a team.
- Elbows15

He is one of the better 3rd line centers in the league. Do you think he is more than that?

OK...but i don't see anyone pining over the dismissal of marko Dano when they traded him for ladd, who was equally as bad in his return and never did much when he signed UFA with NYI...

Revisionist history....aggressive moves to add veteran bottom tiered guys who usually help put teams over the top to win cups....didn't work out.

Teuvo for sure has panned out but was he going to get the top minutes here he got in Carolina?

And for Danault....You had Toews, AA, and Kruger already 1-3 at center....was there room for him? No clue.....

Ship has sailed....I am not and have never been a huge Bowman guy, but hard to criticize a guy when very few trades have blown up in his face LT for this team.....how many other guys did they deal that didn't work out? Kevin hayes who wanted to play NOW....and Panarin who they didn't have cap room for.....

- SteveRain

Danault was playing 3C minutes that season. Many of us said that trade was terrible the day it was made. No one ever accused Condiments of playing with grit. Weise was never much on the gritty scale either. He was a 4th line plug who somehow got a rep as a playoff performer on his career high of a whopping 7 points.

There is no way they get 2 2nds for Johnson. If anything, they would have to give up one to move him.
- Elbows15

And also take an LTIR off someone else's hands, don't forget.

Danault was a better player even at the age of 20 than Anisimov. Don’t get me started on how useless he is. Kruger was always the fourth line guy. We did have cap room for Panarin, but Bowman was scared of what MIGHT happen two years down the road. We could’ve moved on from Crawford, Murphy, Anisimov, or countless other guys to fit in the best left wing in hockey. Not to mention a guy who put butts in seats.

Would you have ever believed Toronto would have given up a 1st rounder to rent Foligno last year?

Yes, he is better than that. He is one of the 3 best defensive centers in the league who puts up .5PPG. Those are solid 2C numbers. He is also a possession monster who plays heavily in the Ozone while getting a bit more than half his starts in his own end,

Bowman has shown no inclinations to deal with LTIR implications

Do you understand the difference between a rental and a player with term left on his contract?

Its simple. Would you trade 2 2nd round picks for this version of Tyler Johnson who still would have 2 years left on his contract at a 5M cap hit in a stagnant cap era?

Should've done that in red font. Johnson's value hasn't gone up since the deal, so I would imagine they send Johnson and a 2nd, and they take a contract off someone's hands instead.

You may be right. The story out of LA is that he is reviving Kopitar's career because Kopitar does not have to take on the top lines anymore. I always like more goal scoring down the middle but I respect your opinion of him.

Yes I understand the difference but $5 million is not a cap killer and the Hawks could retain some of it.

Johnson has been a pretty solid depth player on a 2 Cup winner. As he settles in he will produce.

Forgive me if eggagerated a bit but the main point was that I heard for years about how Seabrook was untradeablel and not only did he turn out to be tradeable but they landed a 2nd round pick which is how teams rebuild.

i dont disagree but I just don't like playing revisionist history as what is done is done. Too many variables on how it all shakes out if you keep that guy or that guy on how that impacts drafting, signing guys to LT deals, UFAs, future trades, etc...but yes I recall you not being a fan. I didnt love it and didnt hate it....

Spot on. Makes me fear for Dach and Reichel. Boqvist, Jokiharju, Terravainen, Danault all gone because Stan did a 180.
- ObeseOprah

Terravainen specifically was gone because it was coming time to pay him, there was no cap space, he had shown not so much and they needed a sweetener for Bickell. He was far from the player he later became a floater and alligator arms for sure.

They don't rebuild by trading away 2 1st round picks. No one wants to be paying 5M for a guy who brings nothing more than a guy on an ELC does.

Wasn’t he gone at least partly because he wouldn’t follow the team’s suggested off-season training program and wouldn’t stay in Chicago over the summer?

I recall the talk being that he was more interested in playing golf over the summer than in improving his physical stature and hockey skills.

In 1997 at the prospects camp at the Edge I asked Bill Wirtz why the Hawks were having such a bad run drafting and he told me, "Drafting and trading players is like picking horses in a horse race. Not easy to win all the time."
- stevefrmglencoe

Drafting 22 year olds instead of 18 year olds would go a long way in fixing that. Otherwise, I tend to agree with Dollar Bill.

It would be pretty cool if he can stick it out and win.

I think he coaches a very aggresive style. He has his beliefs and he is sticking to them.

I don't understand the personal attacks on him. I know he replaced a legend but he's a 34 year old guy who has managed to make it to the pinnacle of his profession. Pretty impressive young man.

- stevefrmglencoe

He's been dealt a tough hand. Replacing a legend, cap hell most of the way, can't count on over the hill vets, young guys infused very little so far.

Am pretty sure they could have fit Panarin in had they wanted to; they just didn't want to. Not that it matters, apart from context ... it is water under the bridge.

I almost have been tempted to pursue getting the streaming service here - as I'd like to have a full look at what sounds like a trainwreck. If for no other reason than to not be in a position just to comment on highlight snippets.

No need, you get highly accurate, non-biased, straight-up info here.

To summarize.....

JC is not qualified to coach a beer league team. Every thing he does is the opposite of what should happen.

Stan put together this horse crap roster, which, despite being horse crap, would certainly qualify for a playoff spot without Coach Beer League.

The players have made a couple mistakes, but almost every one of them is a result of doing exactly what the coach has told them to do. These poor babies try very, very hard, though.

I may have missed one or two.....

Rockford ahead 1-0 after one period of play. Pour has the goal. Soderholm in net stopped 12
Playing at Iowa today and Saturday.

Update. 53 shots against, 19 for in period three. With only one minute left.. Loosing 6-3. What the heck is going on? Stanton, I Mitchell, Nylander, Reichel each either -3 or -4.

I know that Krutil and Phillips weren't playing well,; Krittil in over his head. Osipov remains at LW. I know that Theo will provide the break down of the bad defensive game and I am anxious to hear whom is responsible. They don't play Colliton's system, correct?! Barret, R Johnson scored

Simple, the multiple conspiracy theories you proposed in your last post.
- rpeters01

It's not a conspiracy theory. Other posters have said maybe the team quit on the coach. Could be the team is just playing NOT TO WIN.
