not a bad idea.
I think they’ll get it going soon. Willy has been bad the past few games, lots of giveaways, two last night leading to goals. He’s falling back into his old habits. Everyone here was telling me how he’s a “penalty killer” now. Lol, that’s jokes. - Tanooki
I don’t think he’s going anywhere, looks like a new guy compared to previous years. Haven’t seen him shy away once from contact, skating looks stronger he looks stronger.
Don’t see it….

See this is where management has sold you the Blue Kool-Aid. Hyman was a massive part of the up and coming 105pt team Lou had put together.
Kyle Overpay decided those types were expendable so he could pay his friends.
He then cans the only thing keeping these kids from getting massive egos- Babcock.
Add in some bad trades and moves like Sparks, I think you have the worst Leaf GM in my lifetime still making awful decisions. You guys had Hutch play last night. Hutch is STILL THERE! That literally proves the guy doesn’t learn from his mistakes. - DrunkenCanuck
Thats where your trolling has fooled you. Hyman wasn't a "massive" part of it.
He was just part of it for sure |

Depends on the day. Multiple concussions will do that to a feller.
Why he is convinced playing the opposite type of Hockey that put him in the HOF and won him cups, I will never understand. |

Over a point a game ever since…he’ll be ok. The whole team will be fine as long as our goalie stays healthy and keeps stopping pucks… |

I was excited about Ritchie because I thought he was going to be a poop disturber, giving that top line some much needed grit.
Buddy hasn’t even started a scrum yet. Why doesn’t this team scrum?
Edmonton is by far and away Canada’s best team now, and it’s not even a conversation. If you touch their goalie, you’re going to pay. But do whatever you want in front of the Leafs net because there’s no consequences. |

Oh, please. Just because people on a Leafs forum are being hyperbolic doesn't mean they're "consumed".
The "it's only been 5 games" narrative is a bit precious in and of itself. When can a fan passionately criticize this hockey team? After 10 games? 25 games? 73 games?
Keefe has been vocal in his displeasure of the top line and other players on the roster and he has to keep his poop together. One can imagine his vitriol behind the scenes (we've seen some of it in the recent documentary).
But yeah, one of my favourite tropes on this site are the people who tell everyone else to ostensibly calm down. - mjones242
Usually 20 games is the standard. |

I mean for you, Drunken Canuck, fifty_missions and the others who have been more vocally frustrated with the team predating even this season - you were already angry. Whether it's 5 games into this season, or the 63 they played last year, or the 76 the year before, or whatever - you've already checked out.
They are 5 games in. They have actually outplayed the opposition in most games, save for the one against Ottawa where they didn't bother to show up until the third - they lost and deserved to.
They have done this without Tavares, Matthews, Marner, Muzzin, Holl, Brodie or Kerfoot making a meaningful - or in same cases even useful - contribution. The backup goalie has been injured and forced us into our third string goalie.
We are 2-2-1 despite our best players either not being there or not playing well.
If they had played those 5 games and were 5-0 but had been thoroughly outplayed in all of the games with the top players playing well I'd be far more concerned.
I can't think of a simpler way to explain why I'm not concerned, but that's it ^^. |

The ones that consume themselves with 5 games of average(not bad) hockey in an 82 game season that has consistently proven to have highs, lows, ups, downs, in betweens.
It’s a sign to take a break when you can’t not constantly make conclusions over 5 hockey games. Especially when those games aren’t even the lowest we will see this season. - Santo_44
I count a little more than 5 games.
I count a few lucky/good seasons, Covid season included, and first round exits.
Look at the bigger picture with this team then compare it to the way they are STILL playing. Same poop, year after year. Some of us post the true side of the story and others post the hopeful side of the story. But the truth is, it's the same story.
I bet you most of the WTF crew have been posting the same comments for 5 years. Things are still the exact same except we have less term on key contracts, UFAs are walking for nothing due to $$$ constraints and the prospects that MiB have been posting actually suck.
The team is soft, entitled and have no idea how to pull their heads out of their collective asses and play strong hockey on a consistent basis.
Every year guys like you post comments that guys like me are whining and know nothing about hockey. And, every year this team sees a good regular season and a poopty first round exit because they're a poopty playoff team.
Hmmmm.
Maybe we're right after all these years and some of you are wrong. Just maybe. |

Oh he’s for sure improved. Or looks better in the first 3 games. But the last two he’s been bad defensively, and it looks like he’s trying to do too much and it’s leading to mistakes. I think he’s getting close to being worth his contract, but he still doesn’t play they way we need him to. He does that weird thing along the boards where he checks the guys legs but doesn’t try to get the puck. |

They’ll all get it going. Maybe we could find some pages from 2018-19 when Marner had 94 points and was +22 and Willie had 7 goals and 27 points in 54 games and -4
I doubt they match today and Willie would have been shipped for Cody Ceci. - Garnie
I was being facetious, and yes Marner is getting the Willie love from years past. It will shift back to Willie when he slumps….. |

Imagine throwing away a jersey because a team lost a close game to drop to 2-2-1 on the season. It's soooo (frank)ing hilarious. - Zezel

I think only 2 goals were scored with Willie on the ice and one was the horrendous Matthews turnover. We might give your “hockey opinion” some credibility if you did not exaggerate so much.
Marner was -3. Not pinning all the blame on him, but will be nice when the 1st line starts spending more time in the offensive zone. |

So if you know this, why expect anything else? Why get mad when they perform exactly how you think they will.
The team is soft, we all know that...dont expect that to change with this core.
Just be pleasantly surprised when they do provide some pushback....once in a while.

LOL Garnie. Do we have a convert? I thought you were the 2nd of the “Willie Sucks” guys left on here.
Just kidding. At least your Willie jabs are only 1-2 times per blog. And often made in jest without an obvious attempt to rile up the trade Marner crowd.

If Nylander ever puts his face in front of a slap shot like Marner did vs. Boston I will delete my account.
