In fact, a highly ranked team losing in the first round five times in a row is highly unusual, so I really like the odds of that switching up this year, a lot. The Leafs winning the first round is an excellent bet.

Not sure what that means. Leafs we’re getting better scoring chances from better scoring spots. That’s pretty easy to see. I didn’t say anything about outplaying. I said that the Leafs outchanced them. Not sure if you remember what Hutchinson was letting in last night.

Hyman scoring playing with the best player in the world who has put up a ton of assists in his career and Freddie being much better playing with a very good team who excels defensively should not come as a surprise. Does not mean they would have had that success in Toronto.

Nice to see Willie continue to show improvement in his defensive intensity. I believe the 4th goal started with a communication breakdown between he and Brodie, and his turnover but that happens and has not been a habit this year.

Great effort stopping the Sharks’ 1st empty net breakaway. Thought that was going to lead to Marner or Matthews stepping up. He was also 1st man back on the empty net goal but unfortunately could not make up for the Matthews turnover.

I still think the Leafs have outplayed the opposition in every game this year and eventually will get some bounces their way. A couple of those goals seemed to deflate them a bit, but they still showed some resiliency by eventually bouncing back a bit.

It actually is pretty simple. Teams force the Leafs to the outside, and collapse as soon as they do get it to the middle of the ice. They smother Marner and Matthews every time they have the puck.

Oh, please. Just because people on a Leafs forum are being hyperbolic doesn't mean they're "consumed".

The "it's only been 5 games" narrative is a bit precious in and of itself. When can a fan passionately criticize this hockey team? After 10 games? 25 games? 73 games?

Keefe has been vocal in his displeasure of the top line and other players on the roster and he has to keep his poop together. One can imagine his vitriol behind the scenes (we've seen some of it in the recent documentary).

But yeah, one of my favourite tropes on this site are the people who tell everyone else to ostensibly calm down.

I think they’ll get it going soon. Willy has been bad the past few games, lots of giveaways, two last night leading to goals. He’s falling back into his old habits. Everyone here was telling me how he’s a “penalty killer” now. Lol, that’s jokes.
