Just because MM and AM want to play together doesn’t mean they should every game! You have to earn it. Put MM back with JT and move Willie up.

On another note…….I’m affraid this year is going to end like last year, if they even make the playoffs. It’s a poor build and changing Auxiliary pieces isn’t enough.

Blue Cat? had concerns. You guys told him to frank off and had your typical condescending remarks. Now it’s 95% of you clowns with the same narrative. LOL

How many periods has this supposedly "elite" team dominated this year? It'd be fun if it was more periods than not... but I'm not sure if it has been?

They're 2-2-1. Tampa is 2-2 and -5. Buffalo and Detroit are both ahead of them in the standings. Let's talk at American Thanksgiving.

Or at least the playing style that doesn't get the W's.

Dragging a team around on your back will do that to a feller. It’s good to see Hyman playing well and earning every penny of his new contract. Speaking of narratives that made me laugh-

“For that money, frank Hyman, easily replaceable”

Hyman and Kadri’s loafers were much too heavy for Dubas’ liking. Way too much compete for a team that is supposed to win “Kyles Way”

Yeah, they should start playing a W getting style, agreed.

I love Hyman and think he could be on the Team Canada. But in a cap world, that contract is incorrect. Kampf, Kase and Bunting have been excellent so far.

As for Kadri, he's doing hard time in a federal penitentiary.

Yeah that's kinda it though in a nutshell... Most of the support pieces brought in have been more than Ok...

This team is going to go as far as the big 4 take them... and the sooner those 4 realize it, the better....

See this is where management has sold you the Blue Kool-Aid. Hyman was a massive part of the up and coming 105pt team Lou had put together.
Kyle Overpay decided those types were expendable so he could pay his friends.
He then cans the only thing keeping these kids from getting massive egos- Babcock.
Add in some bad trades and moves like Sparks, I think you have the worst Leaf GM in my lifetime still making awful decisions. You guys had Hutch play last night. Hutch is STILL THERE! That literally proves the guy doesn’t learn from his mistakes.

Yeah. Right now the team's problems are not the absence of Hyman and the presence of Kampf, Kase and Bunting (and Ritchie). The problems are as simple as Marner, Tavares, Muzzin, Holl, Brodie and Kerfoot aren't going while Matthews is not quite there yet. Most of these things are going to come around.

I mean for all the people complaining: Hyman was going to have a decent year. He's still in his prime years and he's playing with McDavid on the PP. Expect 3-4 years of Hyman being an excellent contributor in Edmonton. It's the last 3-4 years of that contract that are likely problematic. As my Oiler friend says, "I love him now; I'll hate him later if I have to."

Andersen was likely going to be okay in Carolina: This is a team that plays defense so well, it managed to stave off a (albeit unmotivated and weak) Leaf team with a zamboni driver in net. I'd like to think he could be at least that good. Realistically, and I've said it before - Andersen was done in Toronto. Whether he's good or bad was irrelevant - he was done HERE. Emotionally, mentally . . . done.

So it's not about those players leaving. It's about the team's best players not performing. And even with that, they are 2-2-1. Imagine watching Tampa and having Kucherov, Stamkos, Point and Hedman all playing sub-par at the same time. Or Edmonton with Draisaitl, McDavid, Nurse . . . and someone else Puljujarvi(?) not playing well. When significant parts of your players are missing in action . . .

They'll be fine.

This explains a lot. You're 13 or younger.

And that statement gives undue credit to Brian Burke, Dave Nonis and the second coming of Cliff Fletcher.

Yeah, I prefer the Leafs cutting players loose than the past where they were always buying high on players. And they've done okay with guys they've brought in like the depth guys this year, not to mention Campbell.

Right now reminds me of in recent years when Matthews would go ten goals without scoring. It just meant he was due. Tavares started slow last year. The top guys breaking out is not going to be surprising.

You think matthews wouldnt be a quiet leader lol. He doesnt seem like the "rah, rah" type.
Matthews hasnt led the team to crap, being captain wouldnt magically change that. He doesnt need a C to "lead".
Its 5 games in people, relax.
Lol

- Fakepartofme

The crazy part is these 5 games haven’t even been that bad.

They are getting depth scoring, goaltending from Campbell and are limiting chances.

It’s an average start by their standards but not horrible and not really good.

These fans are insane, some seriously need a break from hockey.
