It ain't covid. In 2019 I remodeled my kitchen and I had at least 3 contractors that didn't even show up for a scheduled estimate. I had to get a lot of stuff done on the side which saved me money. The problem is the younger generation doesn't want to work in the trades.

I don't think this is entirely true. I know a lot of guys around my age in the trades.

The shortage in the medical field is what we should be focusing on.

They should legit make it near impossible to become a teacher anymore there is to frankin many. AND most of them SUCK. Shot at you whoever said they were in education.

Just because you know a lot of guys doesn't mean its not true. Just look at the truck driving trade. I work in the wine industry in California and truck drivers are a premium. Just look at the port of LA. 100 ships just sitting. We are in bad shape.

Because there's a long-standing stigma in this country that anyone who goes into trades is "dumb" or " dense" or "not smart enough." This is clearly false in every sense, because I've had a lot of plumbing and HVAC work done in my place over the last few years and those guys aren't dumb by any stretch. A good tradesman (or woman) has to understand the basics of physics, chemistry, engineering and electronics in order to be good at what they do.
