Wow, guy puts on a Flyers uni and he gets injured the next day it seems. This organization is jinxed. Playing without Ellis tomorrow night should be fun. It would be a major test with him in the lineup and he seems to have settled Provorov down too. Oh my if he can't play. Might have to tie one on to watch that game.

I'm having deja vu. Only this time it's Ellis and not Jones.

Looks like if Ellis can’t go they will roll with:
Provy-Braun
Sandheim-Ristolainen
Sellers-Yandle

I’m glad they realize that Ristolainen is not a guy to give top minutes to. Not that Braun is but he is better suited IMO.

Grit is not an adjective I would apply to Joe Thornton as a player.

That guy could take a puck to the chin and it would bounce off like memory foam

This is your definition of jinxed? Kevin Hayes has never been deserving of a 7.14 million dollar contract. What do we do? Trade for his rights and offer him everything, including his best friends. I’m shocked we haven’t stripped G of the C. Nolan Patrick has had injury history prior to us drafting him. In fact I think he may have been out most of the year prior to us drafting him…so we drafted him. Ryan Ellis’ only real knock outside of size is he’s not a healthy player…so we trade for him.

Not really sure what your point is here? Ellis had a hand injury last year and as far as I know he has been relatively healthy throughout most of his career. You can say what you want about whether Hayes deserves that kind of cash, but he wasn't injury prone before signing with the Flyers. I was hoping that Jersey would take Patrick because he already had an injury history, but he was the consensus #2 pick that year. And I was also talking about all the prospects and their injury woes(Allison, Wisdom...etc...).

My point is, 7.14 million is an overpayment for a player who only flirts with maybe getting 50 points and has no chance at a Selke nomination in his career. Ellis has also missed time with concussion and knee injuries. He’ll be 31 as soon as the new calendar begins. So we’ll see how he’ll respond.

I'm not arguing the point that Hayes is probably overpaid and that contract could end up looking downright ugly before all is said and done, but I'm speaking strictly of injury history here. I admit that I haven't really followed Ellis that closely during his career, but early on he seems to be the perfect complimentary piece that Provorov needs to be at his best. They really didn't give up that much to get him in my opinion, so it's a roll of the dice that he somehow stays healthy.

Would you have rather seth jones, or a different RHD ? And what other FA center would you have chosen, we needed a center? We didnt give up much for Ellis, so i think that deal was a total win. Hayes contract is fine for now, so im not complaining. Wouldve like 1m less, but it is what it is

I think the Ellis pick up has been great so far. My suspicion is it’s not a serious injury but perhaps from a blocked shot which any player can experience. Not related to age though recovery can take longer probably. This stuff will happen over the season. He’s stabilized provy and seems to have helped us in our own end so it’s not as chaotic.

With or without him, we will need a great effort tonight to get points off of Florida.
