Can't compare any other sport to NHL's hard cap. Top end talent salaries in every other professional sport dwarfs the NHL. Look at top end contracts in MLB, NBA, and NFL. They are all 3-4 times what the top end talent in the NHL earns. None of the caps other than NHL are hard caps, and the whole Escrow provision is ridiculous.

Truer words never said players are not owners they're employees. Owners assume the risk for revenue.

Don't get why everyone protects him, he's as much to blame for what's been going on as anyone.

Say what you want, but I think Lankinen so far has looked better and calmer, and in better position.

- vabeachbear

I’m almost there, but it’s been a crap show in front of him, so not sure which way to lean yet.

I'm kinda hoping for good things from Strome tonight. From what he's said in the press he's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder. lets see if he can put his money were his mouth is.

Or Trotz took over a team loaded with high picks in their prime after years of sucking. The team had solid goaltending and he still didn't win the Cup.

Trotz failed for years in Nashville. Trotz one great season was with a stacked WAS team playing a 1st year expansion team.

Great goaltending makes great coaches.

JC could have coached the Lightning to the Cup last season.

Well, the medical examimer in Cook County said if someone died in a car accident and tested positive for COVID, they woud consider it a COVID death. Maybe the same thing applies to concussions.

Who’s in charge of building Strome’s alter if the Hawks win tonight?

I hope he does well, win/win. If he stays in lineup and contributes offensively, then it helps the Hawks on the ice, and at same time it adds to his trade value.

I hope he and the Hawks do as well. If they win I expect a lot of told you sos and I’m sure some will attribute the previous games woes because the team was without Dylan Strome

HUGE Blow to the Team

@ByScottPowers

Blackhawks assistant coach Tomas Mitell is in COVID protocol, the team announces. He'll be replaced by Chris Kunitz on the bench tonight.

Good points.

In the NFL, the Steelers have been the model of consistency and stability. In the 1969, Chuck Noll became the coach. Bill Cower followed him in 1992, and now Mike Tomlin, who took over in 2007. That's three coaches over 50+ years. And they've done pretty well. How about the Patriots? Their coach and GM has been there a long time, and they've done pretty well.

- mohel

So, if it’s stability you want, they should have stayed with Q for the thin that followed the thick. Sorry, you can’t have it both ways.

BTW, BB failed somewhere first before he ended up in New England. He wasn’t an unproven rookie HC on his first job.

In fact, Belichick is an example of how to develop a HC. Asst. under Parcels, went to CLE, got fired, went back as an AST.under Parcels, then got the NE job.

The JC equivalent would be 4 years in NFL Europe, followed by one in the Arena League, then an NFL HC job.

*Gaudette, Hardman (concussion protocol) and Kurashev are the scratches

Totally agree. While the defense needs to be better, it's not like Fleury's been bailing them out or standing on his head.

Even though he's not elite, I think we got a little spoiled with Crow.

Why is Kane getting this tribute? I thought he was bad for the brand?
