Those minutes are much more reasonable. He should do better there.

I'll be there sunday and it should be interesting.

Mighty disappointed thus far as I bought into the marketing/fantasy sports Kool Aid thinking this team would be a playoff contender and maybe more.

I think management needs to do as much as possible to prevent us from giving Columbus a top 5 pick even if it is lottery protected. That is just an insult. Even if we trade pieces at the deadline, best we'll get is a first rounder in the late 20's, low 30's in return.

My thoughts:

Our goaltending has been average or less than average over these past few games. The Isles and Nucks game were winnable if we had gotten saves at timely moments.

We are getting shots, but no rebounds and little traffic in front of the net that actually blocks the goaltender's view.

We are missing a lot of shots too. We need more shots from the point not going high as well as the few breaks we have can't be fired over the net.

As mentioned before, Khahira should not be on a line with Tazer. It has the opposite effect as it reduces scoring chances. Please don't put Carpy on there either like when JC was putting him on the PP unit. Those players belong on the 4th line as grinders.

If we lose by more than 2 goals against the Wings Sunday, I think they need to let JC go. I agree it might be a whats the point move given it should fall somewhat on the players and not even the mighty Trotz or Q could save this team, but it will be a shake-up like pulling the goalie, a message that management is taking action. If that happens, Crawford will be the interim coach until a solution is found.

How many 50/50 pucks have the Hawks won in these 5 games? How many greasy goals have the Hawks scored? Sorry, that is on the players, not any "system".

Being out goaltended each game hasn't helped either.

I agree and do analytics have a chart or a percentage that show 50/50 battles?

I don't know if I'll even watch Sunday but if I do I am very curious to see how many of those battles they engage in and win. That to me is the TELL if a team is still putting in the effort of has it mailed it in. IF it's the latter, Bowman can wait all he wants but not much will change until the team wakes up either by a roster shake up or a coaching change. Neither is fair to said person who takes the sword for this....but something has to wake up this group.

I still don't think so....I don't disagree.....as his seat should be HOT as it, but if we believe guys like Powers, or Freidmann.....COlliton is safe for now as is Bowman. SO I don't know what that implies other than they are giving this team time to gel and apparently the win now mantra isn't as strong as we all were to believe.....

Yeah, we are building a core given we locked up a D trio of Jones, McCabe and Murphy for at least 4 more years.

Dach is young and will be given a multi-year agreement once his ELC is up and we'll likely give the Cat an extension in 23. We have Reichel in the pipeline.

As much as we as fans want bowman and Colinton gone it's not going to happen. As long as fans continue to come to game and purchase Blackhawks merchandise this is where the hawks will mired in medicored. Right now they following the bears bulls and white Soxs blueprint. Unless fans stop going to game and buying hawks stuff or really gets so bad that public pressure gets so bad that management is forced to make a move this what we have a gm that does not know how to rebuild a team and coach that cannot coach and get his message across. We as fans will have to accept it.

This is playing out like when Resindorf wouldn't fire Terry Bevington. Except the Sox weren't drawing fans.

New blog! A summary of the Blackhawks 5th consecutive loss to start the season as the Canucks downed them 4-1 on Patrick Kane's postponed 1,000 game celebration.

Plus, thoughts on Seth Jones, Mike Hardman's roster spot, and the IceHogs starting goalies for this weekend's matches vs the Wild.

If you’re convinced this is on the players and not the coach then what does that say about the GM and the roster he’s assembled? Must be pretty awful to be winless with hardly any 5v5 goals and never once holding a lead…

So either the coach/system isn’t working.

Or the GM has assembled such a pathetic roster that it doesn’t even matter who coaches.

Either way someone needs to go.

Well the irony is hearing JC in the presser talk about how you can't give up a goal that easily, the 2nd goal against, yet he continues to play this moronic system where 3 guys go to the boards, Toews follows Hughes along the blue line, 19s stick is no where near the shooting lane, There is no kind of defensive pressure on the puck because its at center ice, then you have deHaan not taking away the stick of the guy who's in front of the net? These are all coaching points, if you give up 4 points a game you can't win in this league, but you're just stuck on offense, what are you JCs cousin
- BetweenTheDots

I said he should be fired, or did I type that in a language that you do not understand. So if Toews stick is no where near the shooting lane, Is that a system problem, or a mistake by the Hawk player, because you are insinuating that he was in position to get his stick in the shooting lane. Same with deHaan's stick. Yes they are coaching points, but probably more so execution by the players failure.

It’s not significant at all, any measurable statistic needs a minimum of 30 data points to determine a conclusion, at least that’s what I learned in statistics class many moons ago.

And the heat chart shows that they kept both the Isles and Van SATs to the outside. Except for inexplicable breakdowns that can last for too many minutes (and goals against), and some not very helpful goaltending, the defense hasn’t been terrible.

The first clearing pass has been much better than, say, last season - it’s after that that things break down - getting thru the neutral zone and either cleanly into the ozone, or dumping with a successful chase. They can’t set up to put sustained pressure on the goalie - all one-and-done. And, of course, too little net front presence.

Just my vision….

- StLBravesFan

Islanders and Canucks had 3 goal leads. They called off the dogs. That is why the high danger chances and heat chart are not a good tool

I think you are mistaken.

Those 3 goal leads were both 3rd period - I check the NaturalStatrick stats after each period - the stats and heat charts show in Chicago’s favor throughout the games.

Nah...I am exhausted by the fact that many on here view these 1st round draft picks as SURE locks....as I spent time, actually twice on occasion, showing otherwise that said picks have just as a likely a chance to NOT pan out as they do to pan out for said organization.....and Bowman and his hockey ops have taken numerous chances over the years taking fliers on retread 1st round picks that didnt pan out for other organizations.

Not only that, but what 1st round pick has Bowman hit on as of late that gives us confidence that said other picks will haunt this organization? DeBrincat? Sure....Dach and Reichel....no idea yet. Who else? Sure, some were traded away to win now and some were drafted towards the bottom due to the franchise winning.

Instead of the trade being met with wait and see....it was viewed as a franchise crushing move because JFresh analytics pissed on him.....so I guess JFresh should be the end all be all for analyzing who to go after. I am AMAZED JFresh isn't hired by a NHL team....major miss by all 32 NHL Franchises.

This team needed to get young on the back end with some PROVEN NHL talent and with Keith asking out.....Stan took his shot.

Guy has played 5 games.....I am not saying he's a god or a sure fire HOF, but I will let it play out a bit before I say he's awful and that the remaining 7 years I am going to hate watching him play.....

And no....he's not THE reason they are losing right now.....he's part of the reason as much as Dach or DeBrincat or Kane or Toews or Murphy is......this team is NOT scoring 5 on 5 and looks lifeless.

McCabe is new, Fleury is new, Johnson is new.....where is the vile and constant bashing of them.....oh yeah...doesn't fit the narrative.....

- SteveRain

DeBrincat wasn’t a first round pick.
