if its Tarasenko, Thomas and a 1st I would take that trade! the injury I know but the chance to acquire a 24 yr old star a point per game player (355pts in 375gms) and if doesn't work out all lose is Thomas be stupid not to go for it!

I don't see it happening after BLUES game last night a lot of long hugs and smiles by Tarasenko and the boys... would not be shocked to see Tarasenko score 30+ this year and stay with BLUES!

Out of respect, you should have left L.Y. out of your statement. Since you did not, it shows you are a brainless bastard

It was 10 years ago. Making light of Ek speaking to the dead, not the situation itself. Lighten up. If you don’t have a sense of humour, you shouldn’t click on eklunds posts…

Oh man it’s going to be so much fun watching the Sabres fans melt down yet again when they get another bag of poop for a player they all thought would bring a windfall.

Tage Thompson is evolving into a nice player and the pick (Ryan Johnson) is just about done cooking. Easy on the "bag of poop" stuff

If Eichel goes to the Blues...would NYR still be looking at Tarasenko as plan B. Or has that moved down from an E4 level.

I find it so amusing that Buffalo fans think they're going to get so much for JE. Is he a great player when healthy? Yes.

1) He's not healthy, needs surgery and surgery his own team doesn't want him to get
2) He's eclipsed 80 points once in 6 years
3) Never played a single playoff game
4) 10 m cap hit
5) 7.5 m signing bonus x2

First-round pick and a couple of half-decent prospects are about all you'll get.

If St. Lou wants to make sure that ROR loses his "love of the game" again, they'll go for Eichel. Eichel will be all about Eichel - not about whatever team he lands on.

Yeah OK, that phone call would go something like this.

Ring, Ring.....hello, this is Kevyn Adams, Hey Kev its Doug Armstrong from the blues... Hello?, Kevyn are you there? Ringtone.......................................................................................................

I don't think the Sabres will EVER trade with the blues again after the ROR trade...

Well he said 3 teams have contacted him tonight so Vegas could be one of those teams that have EK's number on speed dial to give him a call and tell him what they are planning to do.

Are you questioning Eks sources? He gets texts from teams, players, nhl office insiders, officials, journalists and more all the time. Most of them are regular readers and posters here too…

um, no..... we are not talking about some somewhat good player here, hell Risto got the 13th pick over all and a player, Eichel is MILES better. Either buffalo gets what THEY deem to be proper value or Eichel sits.

So Buf should give possibly Shane Wright and Eichel for a shell of himself Tarasenko, and two later firsts. If these are the packages being offered, no wonder he hasn't been moved.. That's just silly.
- SDSabre

Shell of his former self? That's describing Eichel, perhaps. Tarasenko has looked like his old self since day 1 of training camp right through his game winning goal last night. Most of the talk from Blues media & Blues fans is about hoping he stays all year.

Between the two, Eichel is the bigger unknown.

Yeah, idk about that. Eichel is 5 years younger, and while it does require surgery, we're talking about a 90+% rate of being back to the way the patient lived prior. I'll reserve judgement on Tarasenko being back to his 35G 45A 80PPG player a little bit longer than 2 games. 3 surgeries on the same shoulder might not hold up. I want both players to get back to their form, as I feel both are elite talents and the NHL is better off with them.

Riiiiiiight.

Because Doug Armstrong is so forth-coming with moves.

Practically every big move he makes - was never rumored. They drop out of the sky.

I said great player, not somewhat good player but he's seriously damaged goods. Can Buffalo guarantee JE will be the same player he was? No. so the risk is huge for the other team
Massive contract
Huge signing bonus
Don't really know what you're getting

Risto -
Good player
Right shot D
Decent $ contract
Only 2 years left on the deal
Traded a first, Hagg who's been meh for the Flyers and a second in 2023
May have been a bit of an overpay but not much risk.

Go ahead and let him sit - the deal doesn't get better the longer it goes. Buf should let him get the surgery he wants, declare him healthy then trade. way higher value. At which point I'd agree with the haul all Buf fans seem to be asking for.

you lose a current point per game center thats 22 and a possible stud in the 22nhl draft. On top of that you lose whatever tarasenko is going to pull on his own in the offseason. Just not a good move.

I think EKs E rating system should be in line with the F rating with tornadoes.
The higher the number the bigger the damage 😂

Honestly i said this in the offseason once tarasenko starts playing like i said he would then the blues would keep him for the entire season unless the price was crazy. So when it was offseason and I said 2022 1st plus A level prospect think 2022 1st and a nhl ready top prospect LHD and then an a level prospect.

actually we are 3 games in and the great one himself said to watch out tarasenko looks like he did 4 years ago. If it wasnt for Lehner he would have had a hatty.

I am so glad everyone low balled army and we kept him. We are looking like contenders. Just need to tighten the Defense and we golden pony boy

Regarding Tarasenko

Most two likely outcomes this year.

1. He gets hurt gets put on LTIR, blues look to trade for depth that helps now.

2. He stays healthy, team is competitive for playoff spot. Blues value his on ice contribution in this year vs whatever they can trade him for now. Gets traded in offseason after a full year being healthy.

There has never been a professional athlete who had the surgery Eichel wants, who returned to the same level they were at previously. Yes, the brochure for the surgery says 90% of normal people return to the same quality of life... that's completely irrelevant information in a discussion of how it will effect a pro athlete.

The Sabres organization has completely destroyed their relationship with their top franchise player, rather than let him have this surgery. Either they are complete idiots, because chances are high he will return to his previous form. In which case, Eichel isn't worth a lot, because the organization is run by idiots who will give him up for cheap. Or the surgery is incredibly risky, in which case Eichel isn't worth a lot, he needs a super risky surgery.

If Sabres want the best return possible on Eichel, the way to get it is by letting him have the surgery, then come back and play at his previous level. Exactly what the Blues have done with Tarasenko. The fact they aren't is telling.

Am I Pony Boy haha? Unsure what that even means. I like Tank the player, hope he stays healthy. I don't even hate the Blues for cutting the Sabres at the knees, is what it is. The show is better when the best players are playing, I'm just skeptical of a thrice surgically repaired shoulder, even if it was a different injury not having scar tissue start to break down is all.
