TMDIH is claiming that the statement of Bergevin's reset being a success because they went to the SCF is false, because the plan wasn't to get the last seed after firing their coach and franchise goalie playing like trash. The reset was to build a contender in 2018. He didn't do that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, TMDIH

Have fun.

I really think this team is due for a management change from top to bottom...even though I don't think the team sucks as bad as what they've showed those past 4 games.

With how much the team's value has grown over the years...I don't expect him to sell this team, like...ever...

Molson saw Gillette turn the team into a profitable brand. I know Jaffy "lottery sperm" Molson isn't that bright, but I think he has a high enough IQ to not sell.

Tha plan was to make a quick reset to make the most of Weber/Price instead of a full rebuild which would take both guys out the equation as main pieces.

And it almost worked.

Now Weber is almost dead, Price is away from the team and the team looks like a mess.

He, or whoever is GM, will soon have to make a similar call than the one did in 2018. "Rebuild or Reset"

Business wise I'm aware. But in pro sports a lot of winners are driven by their owners, a lot of losers the same. I'm not fond of Molson and hus desire to win

It also required a once in a century pandemic to get in the playoffs twice. MB responsible for covid?

Can't rule it out

Didn't quite get the "cop out" thing as well TBH...

Shutting down a debate essentially with "yeah but here are the results, they were good so your process argument doesn't matter" is an obvious cop out but I'm over it

Might be the smart move because while the remaining 78 probably won't be as bad they probably will be bad enough for this to continue endlessly

The narrative that the Habs wouldn't have made the playoffs last year in a "normal" season is purely hypothetical.

When the Habs traded for Anderson, signed Toffoli, signed Edmundson, etc in 2020, the pandemic was a thing and the canadian division was a thing.

I'm not in his head, but just like the Leafs thought about the opportunity of an easier trip to the conference final, it's not crazy to think Bergevin saw it as an opportunity as well.

To me, he looks more like a businessman who wants to make money than a guy who wants his team to win. Coincidentally, winning makes him more money, but if you talk to him about losing for a couple of years and losing money to win later and make more, I don't think he's gonna be OK with it.

And while I can understand it as a fan of a team he owns this is why I hold him in such negative regard

I'm surprised people here barely said anything about Ducharme yet, I don't think it's because of Bergevin and Molson that the team this year has scored only 3 goals in 4 games (although I know everyone will argue it is lol)

Completely agree with you. I mean, some things in life are more important than money, and if I owned a team like the Habs, being a real hockey passionate, money would be the least of my worries, winning and legacy would be #1 on my mind.
