There are no guaranteed strategy to be perennial contenders.

Bergevin made a "reset" in 2018, which concluded in 2021 with a SCF appearence. It was as close to a god damn success as it gets.

This year, we're living the aftermath of that where we have a similar decision to make. Do we make another half rebuild or go all the way?

Knowing Weber isn't around anymore should be accounted for in that decision since part of the 2018 "reset" was trying to make the most of the years Price and Weber had left.

But as a group?

Like I said, his job is to look at the team and assess where it is against all the other teams in the league. He should be able to see the Habs are not that good a team (and I am not saying he is responsible for all the player changes, but he has to manage that outcome going forward).

He made the decision to push forward with plugging holes, rather than taking a step back doing what is best for the organization next year, and the year after that.

I just do not get it.

It is the same terrible mentality of Habs GM after GM for years now.

TMDIH is claiming that the statement of Bergevin's reset being a success because they went to the SCF is false, because the plan wasn't to get the last seed after firing their coach and franchise goalie playing like trash. The reset was to build a contender in 2018. He didn't do that.
