Last time they went for BPA it was probably Price
And Kopitar is still sticking it in our face at 34

- Not_Yan

Consensus BPA skater at that point was Gilbert Brule if I recall, so, let's not go revisionist. Current contract aside Price was a good pick

Kopitar was > Price, just got a bit redflagged about injuries.
Brule was BPA according to Andre Savard and thank god the staff ignored him.

They were so happy too.

And for the record, I don't regret the Price pick for a second. We got the best goaltender of a generation.

Exactly...it's hard to argue they've made a better 1st round pick since, even when factoring in draft position - although c'mon Caufield

Caufield hit the corssbar last game and keeps getting a few decent chances per game.

My guess? Once the first one goes in, plenty will follow.

Yeah, he seems to have trouble keeping the puck on his stick, afraid of getting hit maybe, gets his head up and loses control.

i think they draft based on pipeline gaps more than what the NHL team needs. but i agree, it's usually not BPA.
- DoubleDown

Don't really think so, there has been nobody in the RD pipeline for a while and they kept adding LD since their current LD are pretty average...now they finally drafted Mailloux this year but I wouldn't be surprised if they selected 3-4 RD in the next draft since they just realized Weber won't be there forever and Petry is getting old.

Scorers go in bunches. Hot and cold mostly just based on normal mathematical variance. I think he may be the one player on the NHL roster I have the least concerns about

you do wonder though if this goes completely off the rails if they don't get him out of dodge for a few months. but we're a ways from that. i hope.

A few years ago that happened to one of the guys at work. He told me right away, we laughed about it and I gave him the rest of the day off. We still joke about it time to time. People that can laugh at literal poop like that are the best

I would doubt it and think it may sour him a bit on the Habs. Caufield loves hockey more thab most and want happy to stay in college, plus he makes a LOT more money in the NHL. Short of him personally falling off a cliff I'd keep him up no matter how bad the rest of the team gets

In high school a friend did something similar while drunk and didn't know until somebody smelled it and then spotted it running down his leg. Still remember the girls parents laughing and yelling "keep him out of the pool"

Latest rumour is that Bergevin is without contract because Molson wants to sell the team, and can't really take this kind of decision right now.

Can't hurt to send him in Laval to win a few if the team can't score and absolutely sucks for another while.
