What isn't reassuring is that aside from Fairbrother, Ylonen and Harvey-Pinard...there aren't any real Habs prospects there. Poehling, Teasdale and Brook are injured. Hillis and Khisamutdinov are with Trois-Rivières.

I know, I forgot Vejdemo...but at 25 years old I don't think he qualifies as a prospect anymore.

Problem is, Habs have a tendency to draft for current needs while prospects will be ready to play in ~5 years....which is pretty dumb.

I'm always hopeful with prospects but I've seen enough drafts with "five first round picks" to give them some time before I start to count on them having any impact. Some of the starts have been nice to see though.

i think they draft based on pipeline gaps more than what the NHL team needs. but i agree, it's usually not BPA.
