The Flyers play Boston tonight and Florida on Saturday. Both games will be tough. Hart was not going to play both games, so after his bad performance last season in Boston, sitting him against the Bruins and playing Jones may not be a bad move. As mentioned earlier, Florida is a good team that will be a good test for Hart.

Agree 100%. Not that he couldn't play both games, but it's probably better to give him a rest every couple of games. Florida is a really good team, so I don't think they're sheltering him necessarily.

I think they are making the smart move. A lot to lose if Hart is in the nets and they get blown out...nothing to lose if Jones is in the net and they get blown out everyone will just say Jones sucks. I definitely think they are sheltering Hart for now and for now it makes sense. Sooner or later though they have to lean on Hart and see where they stand with him.

I'm good with that.

If Jones plays 27 games we are in trouble.

How are they sheltering him? Assuming he's starting against them, Florida is 3-0 and scored at least 4 goals in every game so far. They've beaten some good teams too already, only giving up a goal in 2 out of the 3 games as well.

I think either way he's in for a tough game.

Brutal is hyperbole. He can play better and that line hasn't shown much chemistry but I would disagree with brutal.

The Lindblom-Laughton-JvR third line trio all sit above 55 percent xG shares at five-on-five through two games.

Does adding Hayes to center JVR and Lindblom help? Do we move Brassard there where he really should be anyway? Laughton down to 4th line wing when Hayes returns in November.

Move Laughton to 4th, place NAK on waivers, trade Laughton when Allison is healthy!

Been on the ice for no goals against, net positive in scoring chance differential, and about 50% in the possession game. They haven't looked like a team weakness.

Oskar in particular has been making a lot of really strong plays along the boards.

And JVR's been hustling around the ice and getting engaged physically.

Long term this team needs Hayes at 2C to be successful. I won't mind if they play him lower when he returns to get back into top game shape. I don't see this team doing anything with Brassard at 2C.

Laughton is a key player for this team and they should not be looking to trade him as a spare part.

Everybody lovin' that Brass/Atkinson/Farabee line, but they're riding 50% on-ice shooting and 100% on-ice SV%. Safe to say that's unsustainable. That line needs to do a better job of playing with the puck more instead of relying on rush chances/one-and-dones.

if laughton is a key player on any team then that team is in serious trouble. Key player. Amazing.

That's part of the reason why. Hayes carries the puck. The 2nd line to this point has scored well. They've had one subpar game against Vancouver and one good game against the Kraken. Let's see how they do tonight.

Didn't know key players skate on the 3rd line or possibly the 4th line. At best he replaces Lindblom on the 3rd.

I've liked Lindblom thus far. Strong on the puck and winning some board battles. JVR will get going on the PP. Adding Brassard in the center would be a good 3rd line.

That pushes Laughton down to 4th line with Nate and one of NAK, MacEwen, etc.

I still believe that Allison is the odd man out right now. I wouldn't rush his recovery. Get him minutes in LV when he is fully healed. Unless there is an injury and he needs to come up quicker, I wouldn't rush his recovery from the high ankle sprain.

Laughton is a strong piece on this team. Can play center. Decent faceoff guy. PK.

I think they can be better, but they haven't been "brutal" as some say.

Ideally Laughton will get moved to 4C once Hayes is healthy.

Very rarely in the recent past have we had more than one line going well. I think we need to ride it as long as we can. Once Hayes comes back we'll have more options. Right now we are limited.

I'd love to see Farabee, Atkinson, G, TK, and maybe JVR once he gets going, really pushing each other for goal scoring lead. Get freaking greedy. We could have 7 or 8 twenty goal scorers on this roster.

It’s good that they have not been a black hole but offensively they have looked a bit lost. Jvr is a tough sell to folks because he’s such a straight line player, when he’s on he’s working the cycle and getting to the net, nothing sexy about his game besides a quick roof job in tight from time to time.

A guy who can play up and down the lineup in multiple roles depending on need/injury/etc?

Yep.

Where would they be without laughton. Get the phuck out of here with he is a key player. Then I guess captain clode is a super duper key player.

NAK can play up and down the lineup. Does that make him a key player? Braun can play on any pair according to the coach. Does that make him a key plyer?
