Canadiens is the French spelling, Canadians the English. So in this context Canadiens is the correct spelling.

Thx for clarifying. I did not know that.

This post is to give everyone a heads up that any derogatory terms used in a post will be flagged.

To be clear, this is in response to a post in the message board for the previous blog regarding Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. It's each person's right to not like someone else or to disagree with them but please don't use derogatory terms.

I have contacted the poster via private message.

I'd personally like to see Lankinen in goal for the next three games. Tell him discretely in advance. Fleury's past speaks for itself, but he's no part of our future.

Our present situation is that Toews and Kane have two years remaining on their contracts. For whatever reason, the decision was made to try to field a team that could compete in the present, hence the trades for Fleury and Tyler Johnson, and offering the contracts to McCabe and Khaira and Gus. We can certainly question how well all that has worked out so far.

Trying to be clear between "want," "need," and expectation(s).

Want a top four dman. Need a top four dman as good or better than our current collection. My definition of a dman as good as our top four would be McCabe when he plays as well as he did.befire his arrival here.

Reminder: dmen are always in demand; they do not come cheap (usually) and some are worse for us if they do not have the support they had on their current team

Another reminder: you pay fir what you get. We do not have our furst 2022

Two players - and probably the only two - of genuine interest are Kubalik and DCat. Still willing to deal.

Now if Shaw's contract included then the return .might be our trade partner demanding a top prospect. Maybe not Reichel but would they say Kalynuk. Wish they would take Comessso instead

I do not have much faith we will get a very good dman through trade. We vould try for an older dman.

Would Columbus give back Boqvist if we gave DCat. I pass. I pass most because I do not trust Boqvist health to last. But our improvement is best interest from within, minus Colliton

You can hate Rodgers all you want, but he’s absolutely right about “sensitive people ruining all of our lives because their feelings get hurt.

Sadly, it's going to be awhile before I think we can field a team that can beat the Pack. Hopefully, it'll give us some incentive to beat them at Lambeau in December.

Everyone is worried about the defense. News flash, the offense is a bigger problem. Find an offense and the defense won't have to be so good. It's difficult to win 1-0.
So far, only Dach, Kubalik and Borgstrom have shown up out of our forward group. Kurashev and Hagel are role pieces. "Guys who can go and get the puck." We need to find guys who can keep the puck in the other end.

Theo,

There was nothing said that was derogatory. Look it up, Lesbians call themselves that and in fact have a national organization with the term clearly in the name. It’s a .org as well.

- Diamondhands

The term used has a history of being used as a slur or derogatory term. Lesbians and others in the LGBTQ+ community have since reclaimed the term as a way to be empowered.

Also, the manner in which a term is used makes a difference on whether it's meant to empower others or be derogatory.

A common courtesy call, that some goalies might actually prefer? How's that sound?Might plan/approach things a little differently. No drama intend. Just pointing out that people are different everywhere.

What about the common courtesy to Fleury? Why you want to hide that the "Coach" believes he needs a break?

highlight for me is last night even though he made a big blunder was Borgstrom. Stan might have found something here. Dach is looking good and Jones wasn't awful. If they could just string together a full 60 min effort. They showed Toews mic'ed up last night and Tazer just isn't the same.
- SaskHawkFan

Have you ever seen the YouTube of him mic'ed up at the Winter Classic? They probably had about 10 seconds of usable (i.e., prime time friendly) tape.

I'd like to see Kurshev sit for at least one game. He hasn't done much in the first four games. I missed the first period but that poor pass by Borgstrom in third period soured me on him so he could sit too.

I'd like to see Strome and/or Gaudette in on Thursday's game. I think JC still needs some more tinkering with lines.

- Popsghostly

Don't get me started; he has skills that make him a American League keeper, but to play in the NHL you handle all phases, and he clearly hasn't.
The idea that Toews can bring out the best of Kubalik and Kureshev is a fine experiment if you are talking about a ready for prime time Toews, not one working towards his past high pace level of play.

I don't mean to put the bullseye on his back over others...clearly there are skilled players with one dimensional leanings whose commitment has been suspect now and maybe in the past.
It was foolish to think Tampa's 2nd and 4th liner was suddenly able to contribute at a go-to top line impact guy.
Or that suddenly the kids are gone fill the net and see the entire ice.

Whether we get that protected lottery pick or transcend to lower mediocrity, wasn't it something we expected was as possible as that chance they could be a playoff club?

This piece of The Athletic's game summary peaked my interest because I'm not sure what it would take here to implement this kind of cultural shift. Those things do not tend to happen because they are mandated, instead they tend to happen organically under great leadership.

What's missing in Hawksville that is preventing us from capturing similar lightning in a bottle? Do we have the mental and character fortitude to make the shift described? Who would our biggest obstacles be? I have my ideas, but wondering what you think.

During the 2017-18 season, no team allowed more shots on goal per game than the New York Islanders, a defensive disaster that yielded 35.6 of them per game. No team gave up more scoring chances, or more high-danger scoring chances, or more goals.

Over the next three years, only two teams allowed fewer goals than the Islanders, who instantly became a top-10 team in nearly every defensive metric.
The personnel didn’t change overnight, but the team’s identity did the moment Barry Trotz was hired away from the Washington Capitals. But to hear the Islanders tell it, it’s more than just a coach and a system. It’s an entire attitude — one in which individual stats are sacrificed in the name of wins, in which effort often trumps talent, in which coasting is never tolerated. It’s not always pretty, and it’s not necessarily the most fun way to play, but it’s effective; the Islanders have reached the league’s final four each of the last two seasons and are a Stanley Cup contender again. If the Blackhawks — who have been one of the two or three worst defensive teams in the league dating back to Joel Quenneville’s final seasons in Chicago — are looking for a role model, it could be the Islanders.

“It’s not easy,” Islanders captain Anders Lee said. “The guys have to really check some of their personal stuff at the door sometimes to play a team game every night. It is hard. To win, it’s not an easy thing to do. And we have to accept that every night, that if we do what we need to do we’re going to have a chance the way we play. If we play to who we are, every night we’ll have a chance.”

Andrew Ladd, now with the Coyotes, used the term “buy-in” several times when talking about the Islanders’ immediate turnaround. That was a trendy word in Chicago during the brief rebuilding season, but it’s one that needs to stay in the team’s vocabulary if they’re going to get back to playoff contention — and perhaps save Jeremy Colliton’s job.

“Barry brought a structure and a system that allowed us players to execute,” Lee said. “They did a great job of showing us what we needed to do. And I think as players, we took everything that they had and bought in and took care of that. We were able to make some changes quickly and now it’s become for sure part of our identity.”
