There is joy in Ledgeville this sunny morning!

Where? I’m not caught up yet.

For me, Kirby looking like he’s picking up where he left off in the bubble is a good sign.

I mentioned last night that Borgstrom has looked pretty good. Getting him and Stillman for pretty much nothing other than taking on Connolly’s contract is shaping up as a pretty good deal.

I think Jones has overall looked pretty good while acclimating to a new team.

Need to right the ship fast but on the ledge there is typically only anger and falling skies.

Dach looks good and I'm liking Jones a lot. Love when he weaves around the blue line and brings it in. Very impressed with his puck moving skills which we solely missed for years.

They only gave up 4 high danger chances the whole game. So sorry that talking point does not fly for last night's game. Islanders capitalized on theirs, the Hawks did not capitalize on the Isle's, case in point ADB's breakaway. I was more upset the Hawks went back to playing soft in the offensive end. They went back to the Globetrotter weave offense, when a good shot opportunity happened, Sorokin had no traffic in front.

All said and done they still gave up 4 (frank)ing goals, 30 minutes of good defense doesn't cut it. Bad turnovers in your end don't cut it, it all equals losing.

And Cats breakaway came from what, great defensive play from Dach, so it is connected no matter how much you don't think it is.

If they only played 30 minutes of defense, they would of given up more than 4 high danger chances?

I thought you said the forwards are not responsible for defense, until a forward makes a good defensive play?

Maybe next game your narrative will come back, not this one.

I saw them play more than 30 minutes - I would say that except for the first 10 minutes of the 3rd period, they played decent to good+ defense - limited NYI's SATs, SCs, HDSCs, SOGs, 2nd chances, every other stat they come up with.

But just like in two of the first 3 games, a 10-minute breakdown stopped them from being in the game with a chance to win at the end.

And, of course, a total inability to generate any kind of dangerous offense 5x5.

Not a big fan of Lightfoot at all (probably the worst Chicago mayor in my time) but agree with your actions on that one Theo.

After not playing well on the road you don’t see anything positive about the Hawks outplaying the Isles last night? You didn’t appreciate that the Hawks played better defensively then the team Coached by the greatest coach without a neck in the history of civilization? You don’t see any progress and improvement?

He adds that element which is nice to see, I thought he was gonna score on that rush he got behind the opposition D. Right now, between him and Gus, the Hawks have enough D that can join the rush. And yeah, Gus has his defensive blemishes, but he and Kane still seem to be on the same page for passing.

Agreed with others that Dach and Jones have looked impressive.

Head coach needs to go ASAP. He’s killing this team. If not for the Xs and Ox/system then for the simple fact that we fall apart whenever we give up a goal/face adversity. The goals end up coming in waves for the opposition….which means the team isn’t locked in mentally. Far from it. JC has lost this team and we need a change before we fall too far behind in the standings.

I think last night too, you have to give some credit to the Isle, they weathered the Hawks attack really well by getting shot blocks and disrupting chances with their sticks. Well coached team with really good fundamentals.

Honestly I hope the team goes back to Lankinen for a game or two because MAF has been only "ok" and not solid. Right now, I think Lankinen gives them the better chance to win.

They need to find a way to stop chasing the game. 3 out of the 4 games they've given up a goal in first 5 minutes of the game, and then they have been taking too many chances, pressing and then giving up goals in transition on the counter attack. Last night, they were better, but got sloppy again once they were chasing the game. It snowballs on them.

Offensively too, I know it's been said, but it's also been a little bit too much one and done. I think they were credited with only 2 rebound chances last night. They could use a bit more down low to up high with net front presence.

First 3 games we didn't look/act like we were ready. Game 4 was a snoozer. You know Trotz loved seeing the Chicago boys eventually get hung up in the gears of his trap. Barry had a game plan. What was our gameplan, anybody? Brace yourself, boys and girls. This may be a memorable year.

Not sure depending on your goalie is a game plan? I saw Chicago finally play with some semblance of order. The defense, and I mean team defense, played exceptionally well in the first and partway into the second. Then this frigile group fell apart after the second Islander goal.

We need to see a repeat of the Hawks coming out to play from the opening whistle. If they can get the first goal and maintain their defensive game it should boost their confidence. Of course it’s important for the goalies not to let in a weak demoralizing goal.

I just have to throw this out there, so when the Blackhawks rotate playing defensively and let's say deHaan or Murphy, or Stillman or McCabe are drawn out high defensively, what does that do to our transition game? Gee i wonder if the forward is really worried about covering one of them defensively if he has to? Or they know they can be really aggressive with them since the guys with more speed are being drawn back to their own goalie. So stupid

So literally this coach is not only making the defense weaker with his system he's affecting 5 on 5 scoring with it, giving up 4 goals plus a game and what 3 total 5 on 5 goals

PER EK:

Just got off the phone with a source who tells me the Canadiens early rough start is not sitting well at all with ownership. Just goes to show you what a "What have you done for me lately" world sports live in. The Canadiens are just a few months from a completely unlikely Cinderella run to the Cup finals, but after starting the season winless the narrative has entirely shifted.

What is Montreal looking for?

A top 6 Center. Dylan Strome's name keeps coming up, and Chicago is another team in early peril...

and YES, i left in the incorrect sp of "canadiens"

Canadiens is the French spelling, Canadians the English. So in this context Canadiens is the correct spelling.

When are we going to admit and realize that Toews is not the same player few years ago..Far from it...And Mr. softy, Kane is just disinterested in anything....Getting tired of Kane bringing up pucks in power play only to lose it....Thank you Toews and Kane for your service, but its time to clean house.....I am fine with everybody else..

Yes they played better than the first 3 games
Yes they outplayed the Isles for most of the evening
Yes, thats a game they probably win 8 of 10 times

but

They can only dig a hole so deep before it becomes to large to get out.
The lack of adjustments by the coaching staff is baffling. They should know, and it was pretty obvious what Trotz and the Isles were doing last night, yes they are a tough team to come back on, but if they are packing it in front of the net, make some adjustments, change things up, etc. Don't just stand around looking for something to suddenly change.

The NY plan was to survive the first 10 minute Chicago onslaught that never materialized. Play an alert defensive game, and be opportunistic when the Hawks would eventually falter. Grind them down to fine powder, if need be. Our goaltenders have really hurt our chances, I agree. This game tonite, is how they should have looked coming out of the gate. Took 3 games to look satisfactory and sane. We must have had different seating perspectives. I didn't think the Hawks played exceptionally well in any capacity. Played like an average hockey team? Perhaps. But, these are baby steps taken, in a league filled with giants. Hope things can turn around, but how would that even look with JC as coach?

This post is to give everyone a heads up that any derogatory terms used in a post will be flagged.

To be clear, this is in response to a post in the message board for the previous blog regarding Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. It's each person's right to not like someone else or to disagree with them but please don't use derogatory terms.

I have contacted the poster via private message.

Theo,

There was nothing said that was derogatory. Look it up, Lesbians call themselves that and in fact have a national organization with the term clearly in the name. It’s a .org as well.

Bench Toews for possible health concerns. One game. Looks tired.

Bench Kane. Same game. Not as engaged as before, for whatever reason.

I am not fine with everybody else. A handful of bright lights that are hustling. But, most are still watching the game, as opposed to getting dirty and playing in it.

“There’s a PC woke culture that exists,” Rodgers told Pat McAfee. “And there’s a Cancel Culture at the same time, and it’s based on people’s own feelings of maybe personal [misery] or distaste for their own situations or life or just the enjoyment of holding other people down underneath their thumb.”

“Are we getting that soft as a society that we can’t have a back and forth now,” Rodgers asked. “Somebody can pay for a ticket and say whatever the hell they want — which I think they should be able to — but the one time you say something back to them, that gets caught on a hot mic, now I’ve disrespected an entire city, an entire organization, my organization … “

“I’m not a part of this woke, Cancel Culture that tries to silence people all the time.”

You can hate Rodgers all you want, but he’s absolutely right about “sensitive people ruining all of our lives because their feelings get hurt.
