Ruff says Hughes is day to day, but will be evaluated more tomorrow and we'll see where he's at. Also said Hughes has dealt with shoulder injuries in the past. |

I hope that he doesn't have reoccurring shoulder issues

It may seem crazy, but while Hamilton is great, was Graves the most important move this off-season?
He has been tremendous and we needed a player that creates stability in his end

Yeah, this feels like Nico last year when he was day to day with an “upper body injury”. |

One of our biggest problems the past few seasons was getting pinned in our own end. Graves has done a great job of playing physical, separating the puck and then making accurate passes to move the puck out. He looks like a tremendous pick up so far. |

Yes I know that, but when was the last time we had a defender who could knock the puck off the opposing team, clear the net and have a sound defensive game and be able to get the puck out of the zone

Lines today without Hughes:
Zacha-Hischier-Bratt
Sharangovich-McLeod-Kuokkanen
Johnsson-Mercer-Tatar
Geertsen-Gauthier-Vesey
Studenic skating as an extra
Graves-Hamilton
Siegs-Subban
Severson-Jaros
Smith-White
Smith swapped in to get looks on the PP, makes me think hes really close to returning. So hopefully this weekend hes back |

Hope so. He's been tearing up NCAA so far and you'd think he'd make the jump next year. - Pomegrant
It's really nice having some flexibility with Smith being able to handle him self on either side of the blueline. Fitting Luke in next season shouldn't be an issue. Walsh is looking great so far too, with Shak picking up where he left off in the KHL following a lengthy rehab.

Hopefully we can tread water and win the games we could/should until he gets back and see where we are
It kind of shows our center depth as McLeod isn't a 2nd line center, it's clear they want to keep the mercer line together as they have been our best line
I would have thought zacha would have moved even though he may be best at wing but he has the flexibility
Now if this turns long term and if holtz shows over next few games he is ready, I wouldn't be surprised if he is called up and they do move zacha over to help on the line with holtz |

Graves is doing an excellent job. I wasn't sure how our LD would be following Murray's departure, but we are looking great through these 2 games. The additions of Graves, Mercer, Hamilton, Tatar, and Bernier to this lineup sure is giving us something to cheer about. |

If that’s what they go with hopefully that 4th line plays 5 minutes a game or less, lol. |

Tonight is going to be a difficult test vs the caps, especially without Hughes
We will see how big of a gap there is, and see if we can keep the homestand strong

Jack Hughes suffered a dislocated shoulder, but will not require surgery. He'll be re-evaluated next week. |

Looks like no Bernier tonight? Its an optional morning skate but Daws was called up and he/Wedgewood are the 2 goalies on the ice. |

Wedgewood starting in net tonight. Not sure why? If Bernier played tonight that would be 3 games in 7 days...? Not that crazy or demanding. I know Bernier isn't lights out, but I feel like he is far-and-away better than Wedge.
