Special teams have been really strong so far. better than 33% on the PP and 100% on the PK.

I have no issue with Matt Martin. Hardman only got hurt because he ducked down and the impact of the hit was his helmet to boards. You could even see Martin sorta was worried as Ferraro said.

Anyway, another Islanders goal.

This is a coach coaching well above his pay grade, but I am not seeing a ton of talent out here either. Maybe a better coach can exploit that talent, but so far they look bad.

Kane and Toews aren't the problems, but 20mm is a lot to have tied up in two players that aren't looking like part of the solution.

Kane looks like a guy, and Toews looks like he hasn't played for 400 days...

I agree with this, but when the first 4 games have been complete and total dumpster fires it's hard to just say, "well Charlie, we'll get em tomorrow". This team looks like dogpoop, a bottom 5 team at this point, but in the end you are right, we gotta just suck this up and see how things go over the next 15 games.

Though I can't see this circus improving by so much. Maybe catch a team sleeping (the Islanders were in the 1st) and luck into a couple goalie wins, but this team looks truly awful at this point.

I agree with this, but when the first 4 games have been complete and total dumpster fires it's hard to just say, "well Charlie, we'll get em tomorrow". Agreed, JC hasn't accomplished a lot to be coaching at this level. I do think this team has some talent, but the system they play is horrible. I've not seen a team turn the puck over so much in their own zone in a 4 year span.

Its why I dont understand why they need Toews on PP1. Does he need those minutes now/this early when they have options in 77 and 8 that can play PP1? Give Toews some min off early - especially as they played 3 games in 4 nights to start?

Nahhh.....push Toews - but just don't match him up against the other team top line.

Toews should be playing 5 on 5 - top line matchup and PK. No PP time at all...at least until 20gms in and he get his legs.

Man, get off the ledge. I get that they haven't played well to start the year, but tonight they were noticeably better. A few breakdowns but their goaltending has been pretty meh. MAF should have had 2 of the 4. At some point a team needs their goalie to make a big save. The Isles got it on their end, Hawks not so much tonight.

Nope he hasn't to be honest. Part of me wonders if he is just playing for the $$$ at this point. It was fairly well known he wanted to go back to Pittsburgh and even delayed his decision to come to Chicago. Hawks didn't do their due diligence on this guy I think.
