Montreal is missing a few of its defensemen (3 or 4?!?). It would be ironic if the Hawks were able to trade Gustafsson back to Montreal.
Realize the return wouldn't be much, but we could hope.

If JC is so worried about defense, why is he playing Gus 17 minutes a night? There were 13 other forwards dressed in 3 games that have not exerted himself, if they don't p

Why after keeping AB, Kane and Johnson together all preseason, were even an untrained eye could see they were getting buried in pre-season he thought they were developing some chemistry?

I was one of JC's biggest defenders on here. But I was wrong. And it is not about his defensive system, it is about his line make-up, and his player usage.

Another screwed up line he has is Hagel, Dach, and Kane. Kane has his most success with a left handed center (easier to get him the puck on his forehand, and a right handed sniper for the one timer (ADB, Sharp, even Versteeg). What does he have? A right handed center and a left handed left winger.

Then he puts Borgstrom (more of a shooter than passer), with Hardman and ADB. Is ADB supposed to turn into Kane now? Who is going to set up ADB for his one timer?

I think he is now just throwing stuff at the wall and see what sticks. Like when a baseball manager has a 10 game losing streak and puts the players in a hat to determine his line-up.

That's pretty much all he's ever played with, outside of having Shaw as a C for a bit.

Toews, Zus, Richards, Sharp (for a minute), Anisimov, Strome all lefties. You can argue the quality of sniper on the other side, but there isn't much data for how he plays with righties. I think he would still be quite effective (if slightly irritated because he prefers the lefty C).

Kane simply needs to play with linemates able to help create space with him

Either by being physical/driving the net or by producing/scoring when they get chances- forcing the opponent to roll coverage

Team key on Kane. It's not that he "disappears" or gets lazy. Probably frustrated when teams take him out of a game (Trotz will attempt to do that tonight) and looks bad on him at times.

JC's remedy was double shifting him to get him away from matchups, but I'm sure wears on him.

77 can retrieve pucks. Prefers to dish. Goes to the net. Responsible defensively. Most important, is YOUNG and needs consistency. For him, is there a better 2 players on the team?

Kane will continue to draw all the top matchups. What is wrong with this line for a long stretch to learn to play together?
