Other teams have been in the same position. They just chose to go with one fewer skater. If the Leafs had done that and called up Hutch and sent Lilli down, they would have lost Lilli for the whole time Mrazek was injured because of the way the emergency call up rules work. They took a chance that Campbell wouldn’t be hurt in the game and now have a free goalie.
It's funny because only the leafs have "piss poor management" because of this but it will be an occurrence for other teams this year as well.
