never understood the use of "Fix You" before every habs game at home, if anything it does the complete opposite of pumping you up for the game, all-around a horrible choice imho. - Pat1993
Well the Habs have needed fixing since ‘93 so.. |

nonsense, everything has always been going according to plan, and everyone within the organization have always been GREAT friends. |

thanks Karine, good blog as usual.
"The injuries didn’t help, but the over abundance of AHLers for a long time didn’t help either. This team should have learnt to play together during training camp, not in the season’s first week."
100% agreed. I get that because of the pandemic the organization didn't get the chance to evaluate as much where the kids were at in their progression, which would explain why there were so many players invited at camp, but still, developing cohesion among the guys on the regular lineup should be a priority as well. and to think some teams only played 4 pre-season games, how propesterous... - Pat1993
it's the same thing for a lot of teams around the league. not ready, preseason too short, no cohesion.

I wouldn't necessarily say the pre-season is too short, but depending on the teams it could be utilized differently. for instance in the habs' case it probably wasn't necessary to have so many players at camp, even before it started they already knew there weren't going to be many spots available on the team, and it wasn't too hard to identify the most interesting prospects that could potentially stand out. bottom line is there are a bunch of guys that simply could've been evaluated with the Rocket, and instead of "wasting" all this ice time on them they could've given it to players from the starting lineup, so that they get rid of the rust and develop chemistry with each other. |

meh, teams want to see their prospects, evaluate them, nothing wrong with that imo.
a week longer, 2-3 games, so the regular roster can play together would have done the trick. instead we have this bizard 1st week where more than half the teams are not ready. I've watched many games the past week, Habs are not the only team with that problem. |

it isn't that there's something wrong with that, but when you consider your organization's various priorities I would prefer having the players that I know for certain will be part of my starting lineup spend more time on the ice together and get accustomed to playing with each other, especially if there are a lot of new faces on the team, rather than evaluate guys that I am basically 99% sure won't be making the team anyway. I feel the pre-season is already long enough as it is, and if you really want to evaluate all of your prospects then nothing stops you from having a separate rookie camp and have them play against other teams' rookies, as we sometimes already see happening. |

yup, and I would give that opportunity during training camp to prospects that have the most potential to make the jump, there's no need to have all of your farm team there imho. |

Fundamentally, this team is not built properly.
There is talent, for sure, but they do not complement each other properly. Where does Hoffman fit (if anywhere)? Where is the winger that Suzuki/CC need? The 4th line is such a mess that I feel sorry for Leks right now.
Also, not sure the return of Edmundson really fixes the issue with the D corps. And when can this Wideman experiment end?
The Dvorak line is the only one playing decently at this point.
Just seems like a lot of random players thrown together, without real thought of how it would all work.
Not a recipe for success. |

if only cloning Anderson was an option, I'd see him on both the Suzuki and Dvorak lines... also, having Edmundson coming back might not solve everything on the backend but it should help considerably in stabilizing the defense pairings and having each dman in the right chair, or at least something closer to that. |

I haven't heard any explanations yet as to why they chose to do this without even giving him a try... very odd considering the habs' rather fragile situation at center. - Pat1993
well, if true he was not claimed so he can play.
and I don't see any mention of this on the tsn website
