Big Z played 18 minutes for Calgary last night, and was a -2. No word on whether the system was at fault.

All too old and haven’t coached in a long time. Torts Is the exception but he’s not done well anywhere he’s been.

Agree roster construction bad trades and development of players imo.
- Scott1977

It’s still a playoff caliber roster. It might not be Cup worthy but to be THIS inept is inexcusable. The talent is underachieving, and seemingly isn’t prepared/doesn’t even care to put forth more than a couple shifts worth of focus and execution let alone 60 min. This after an entire offseason and training and preseason to prepare. The head coach always has to go when this is the case. It’s a clear sign that the players want a change. And it’s been overdue. JC is not doing his job/not good enough to do it at the NHL level, and has lost this team.

Dots would be happy. Under Lemaire’s system everybody protects the house. How long would it take if Lemaire was named coach would Kane say “Trade me right f—-in now”
- LAHawk

And it’s highly unlikely Kubalik would re-sign.
I’d give Dots about two weeks before he’d complain “All they do under Lemaire is protect the house, they never try to score. We need a team that tries to score first and not play so much defense.

Joking aside if/when JC is fired who would the Hawks look to? A retread like Torts or Hitchcock? It’s doubtful they’d look at an unknown name. I’d guess it will be Crawford.

In season yes, only other available would be Bylsma or Ted Nolan.

Unless it is a coach with skins on the wall, we will get "beer league" coach posts by the 2nd shift.

Well, it appears that the board is clear JC must go, but we have no idea who should replace him.

Wow, so much to comment on.

So, we all know its a players league, all pro sports are. Team is a mess. change has to be made soon, and can't get rid of they players.

Coach has got to go. Kind of think he shouldn't have ever been hired in the first place, he should have been in Rockford for about 3 or 4 years minimum, developing young guys, showing his worth, and then move to Chicago, and continue with those guys he developed.

If I'm not mistaken, that's what happen with Cooper in Tampa.

Not been a Stan basher, but he may have to go as well. Don't know if it makes sense to fire GM though right now.

Stan is also President of hockey operations, he could hire a GM to take over those duties from him.

That’s the rub. The list of usual suspects being kicked around does nothing for me.

I don't blame you.

What's your take on JC? Time to go? If so, what type of coach would you bring in?

- mohel

Well, Mo, I was never a very good bench coach. Much better teaching coach. So I can have some understanding for JC. But I coached youts and he has this NHL gig which is more about winning. Posters female dog all the time but the posters that cite examples of recent game situations make valid points as well as the guys posting about player effort and situational awareness. When Savvy was fired the team improved every game that year. And the timing for his firing had nothing to do with the teams record at that point or the spin that they put on it, despite what most posters here believe. Colliton is presiding over a poop show right now and this can't continue. I might give him a few more games but I'd be trying to figure out who I'd want to be an interim coach. NFW it would be Crawford. I'd pull the trigger at 0-5, or if they weren't .500 after 10 or 12 games. He's had a legit fair shot.
