I was glad to see the team follow your advice to try not to score. That worked out well.
- mohel

I think the problem was that somehow JC didn't communicate to the team that they could try to start scoring after the Pens first goal instead of letting them pot 3 more.

I was willing to give it 20 games. It's not just the losing, it's how they're losing. Apples to oranges but last night was about the Hawk equivalent of the Browns vs Bears game...excpet in this case there is no Bill Lazor to hand off play calling duties to.

On one defensive stand i saw Murphy, all the dmen are doing it, by the goalie protecting the house, then behind the net, chase the guy up the boards, then follow the guy to the front of the net, where Murphy originally was but to late to stop them from scoring. It's a joke

Yep, these aren’t hard fought, back-and-forth, close losses. The team comes out flat and gets a beat down before the 1st intermission.

If you’d told me a week ago that after 3 games the PP would be converting at a 40% clip, and that the PK would still be perfect, I certainly would’ve thought the record would be better than 0-2-1.

Unreal.

- Ogilthorpe2

Agreed, can't believe the PP hasn't given up a SH goal yet.

Since Colliton arrived - Toews, Kane....as well as Keith and Seabrook before them - have been labeled bad team mates, quitters, etc.

Players who have had long histories of being leaders and winners. These are the guys who turned the horrible franchise around in their 15+ years

Yet this moron Colliton shows up, they team has had zero direction since day 1 - but THEY must be the "issue" of now not caring, not competing, etc. - not Colliton, clearly

I didn't need Shaw to publically say that yesterday. It was clear in the beginning. You can't fool those players who have been at the top of the game with a clown like that. It's near impossible to evaluate players with this disfunctional/incompetent staff

If savard can be fired after 4 games than this idiot can be fired after 3. What does JC have to warrant more time? His 1 year in the ahl?

Some ridiculous narrative that this also happened under quenneville? No.

It’s bowman not wanting to admit he hired a guy and it completely has imploded in his face.

Keep him and you’l burry yourself further from any chance to rebound and contend this year with a roster built to win now….

But alas it’s Seth Jones fault….I know that now.

- SteveRain

Totally agree Steve, and if anyone here thinks this is "Comical", I beg to differ. As a LONG time STH I've about had it !! This coaching staff is pathetic and it's been apparent for 3 years running. I have been willing to put up with this minor rebuild because of a serious lack of talent, but this team while having some holes, should be able to COMPETE with a sense of urgency. I do NOT see that at all, no matter what this high school coach says in his pressers. This TEAM does not want to play for this guy. A camera shot of Colliton barking in the ears of Toews and Kane in the NJ game said it all to me. Toews barked back, and Kane didn't even acknowledge what was being said. He seemed to have no interest at all. These are your 2 Super Stars supposedly that are not IN on his systems, player matchups, line adjustments, or anything he's preaching. The performance on the ice proves it !!

Empty seats are right around the corner especially from Long Time season ticket holders. Yes I'm old now and in my sixties but I have never seen in all my years a team that is this lackluster from the beginning of the game.
And if YOU management people think that there's a younger crowd that's willing to spend the type of money involved with going to a Blackhawks game, you are just kidding yourself.

I recently asked my 31-year-old die hard son and true Blackhawk fan if he would be willing to take over the tickets next year because I'm done. His millennial response was ...and I'll be kind...
NFW !! There is no interest in paying the type of money they're asking to watch this product.
Enough said !!

If the Hawks FO wants to try to make the playoffs, they can't wait until Thanksgiving to get a new coach. The players have quit on the coach. Many here think that's a good thing. I think it says something about the players who have done so; and it is not a good kind of something. The organization has two choices, imo. They can fire JC now and bring in a disciplinarian retread who will not accept the crap. Or they can publicly say JC is the coach all year, and that any player who wants out can come to the front office to ask for a trade.

I think they will choose option #1. I would, too. I choose the firing route because the team defense has been bad his whole tenure. I am very tempted by option #2 because I loathe rewarding players who quit. And that's what I see so far.
-mohel

What if they choose option #2 and half the team requests out, just maybe it’s not about quitting, but more that it’s a dumpster fire, or both. TBH, I was on the fence on Colliton coming into this year, I’m no longer on the fence, things ain’t working, time for JC to go.

Really disappointed in Stan Bowman, I thought by now he would of brought in a legitimate coach for this team, considering he fired a HOF coach in Quinnville! Joel will win a cup in Florida long before the Blackhawks even become a threat again!

This reminds me of the St. Louis Cardinals, a President of Baseball operations who has such an EGO that the fans call him "MO THE SCHMO"! Stan Bowman only wants a coach he can control with his power, he BLEW IT WHEN HE FIRED A THREE TIME STANLEY CUP WINNING COACH WHO WILL WIN IN FLORIDA LONG BEFORE THE BLACKHAWKS EVEN MAKE THE FINALS AGAIN! I can honestly say that Stan "IS NOT" a chip off the block of Scotty!

Disagree. If you are told by incompetent boss to keep doing things a certain way and have seen that way fail game after game and year after year….still think it’s on said player(s)?

I'm rarely in favour of cleaning out a coaching staff early in a season, especially with so many new additions to the roster. But it may be time after these 3 starts.

At the very least I would relieve Brookbank of his D duties and bring in Jacques Martin - the world's most boring man. But he sure knows how to evaluate and coach NHL blue liners. 2 Cups in Pittsburgh with some very mediocre defenceman.

I have come around there needs to be a coaching change. Especially after Shaw’s comment that the Hawks don’t know where to go on defense (paraphrasing). Shaw was brought back partially to change the room. Even though retired, if JC has lost Shaw, I am sure he has lost the rest of the team.

Stan is on the road trip. Besides seeing what is going on on the ice, hopefully he is hearing what is going on in the room.

- LAHawk

But I was told it’s not that system and that 90% of the league plays the same way.

Those who rightfully at times bash dumb posts need to own this narrative that the system sucks. Not an opinion any longer but coming from a player who played under it. Says a lot.

So the narrative of the system is put to rest.

Progress….👍🏻

Need to cut off the head. You fire JC. This team isn’t losing games 8-7. Entire failure outside of special teams, so far, which usually assistants run….so if anything the assistants are doing their jobs.

agree 100% with what you said not offended at all your just being honest. Until bowman and coliton are relieved of their duties hawks will not make the playoffs. First bowman has not learned from past mistakes with signings trades and construction of a team. Now not every gm is perfect they all make mistakes but when keep making the same critical mistakes again and again it's puts the organization behind the eight ball sorta to speak. Coliton obviously is in way over and there is apparent disconnect between the players and the coaching staff that is also very inexperienced with the exception of Crawford which imo coliton ignores. So it might come down to towes and kane going to bowman and saying colition goes or we go.

Ah, no.

Unless you believe Barry Trotz is a moron. Barry says systems don't matter much, it is about commitment to the system chosen. JC has not been able to get the boys to commit to defense, or cannot effectively teach the system.

C'mon man, quit with the misrepresenting.

We gave up season tickets once they fired quenneville. I get calls weekly asking to come back.

When their is clear direction I can except paying for an end goal. When an organization doesn’t know what it wants to be and panics and raises expectations only to start off about as possibly worse as it can be…..yeah…..no thanks.

That's been my question for a while - IF the guys on the ice have no idea what they are supposed to be doing (which appears to be the case, and was backed up by Shaw's comment yesterday), have they gone as a group above JC's head to make that clear? I cannot / will not believe they enjoy what is happening, and if they see a way to make it better, would they not do that? Would be especially meaningful coming from the guys who've played under other, successful coaches.
