What if they go on a winning streak, which if the forwards get their heads out of their asses, start to support the defense and play with some conviction in the opponents end and the defensemen don’t overplay everything, is possible? Wonder what the topic du jour will be then? I’m guessing the sexual assault allegations or the potential requirement to change the Blackhawk logo.

I was thinking like that if they get the 5 on 5 together lines need a tweaking or maybe a new set of eyes on them .The PP & PK have been good so if you get the 5 0n 5 figured out things may turn around quick . Got to focus on the positive

Do you think the GM would get the coach players he needs or wants?

Not sure if it's the best choice but what about Hossa? Don't know if his contract is up yet. He has instant respect and he brings in his own assistants.

Tbf, coaching staff should still be on alert. We've seen for a few years now, inconsistent play. I'm ready for some growth and development (which is kinda unfair with a team that keeps going through changes, I understand that). But summer's moves said to me "win-now" and we have yet to win one. I liked Colliton in Rockford, thought he was good there. But they seem to be doing well now, which is also good. Good players waiting in the wings. JC has good qualities, but not enough to be a great/winning coach. From what I've seen over these few years. Maybe down the road he can be.

The coach or the players debate, I think it is both. It is easier to get rid of staff vs the players. Like I told Mo earlier, I'm worried it'll be a devil you know type of situation. I wouldn't mind if Bowman moved out or up either, as I was always of the mindset that he should have gone with Q.

Unfortunately the forwards don't have to support the dmen in this morons system they have to become the defenseman because the dmen are either behind the net along the boards or out at the blue line.

For years this org talked about playing like Vegas, for years i heard that, so instead of hiring the coach who was fired from Vegas, you know because he instituted the system there, they reup boy wonder. Don't look now but the Rangers got 2 more points by being patient and trying their best to protect the house.

I don’t remember anyone ever wanting the Hawks to emulate Vegas, except for the winning part. And how many of Vegas’ 4 “years” would you say has this been going on?

Islanders aren’t a bad team. They were a game away from the SC Finals last season. They also have a rock solid coach.

Quote from Toews in the article Laz wrote about how the team is behind Colliton:

“Yeah, 100 percent,” Toews said. “When you’ve got a certain level of experience with the game — Jeremy’s good with this — he welcomes those questions, the little things you don’t understand or don’t agree with, to bring it up and have a discussion. He’s very open to that and that’s what makes him a good coach. I’m not going to agree 100 percent of the time, and it’s good to talk those things out. But ultimately, it’s been my message coming back to the team that I’m just happy to be here, I’m happy to jump on the wagon with the fellas and go have some fun and play some hockey as a team. I think we’ve shown times last year, you could see it, and the year before, too, when we bought in and it was shift after shift that everyone was playing the right way and the same way. You get results when you play Jeremy’s way.”

=====

So, why wasn't the immediate follow-up question: why does the "buy in" and associated winning only seem to come in spurts? What's behind that issue?
