Remember he’s one of the “we’re gonna really miss Risto” guys

Notice he hasn’t mentioned how much better we’ve been on D so far

We already talked about this, but the Arizona component is unnecessary.

They should be trading for the ghost of Andrew Shaw tomorrow, as it would only cost the Sabres future considerations, which is code for not a damn thing.

I think they could get the 2022 Vegas 3rd round pick that Chicago has for taking Shaw's salary off their books. Even better about Shaw is while his cap hit is $3.9M, he's only owed $2.9M this season. Better still, $1M of that was a signing bonus that was already paid by Chicago, so the Sabres would only be on the hook for $1.9M for his $3.9M cap hit.

It's also been reported that his contract is insured. The real cost may be close to 0.

Are the Hawks using Shaw's LTIR to remain compliant?

If so, the Sabres could take Connolly off their hands instead (or with Shaw). He's buried in the minors

https://www.capfriendly.com/players/brett-connolly

Both of them together would be nearly $7.5

Not sure where you're going with Shaw. Imagine their goal is get off of LTIR, and the issues it causes.

Me neither. I'm not great at the nuances of LTIR. I was just curious if they're using his LTIR'd money to "pay for" a cap overage

Rather than bury Connolly in the minors, might as well try and perform a renaissance with him as well and then trade him at the deadline while retaining 50%.

I'm no expert on the Hawks, but a quick look makes it seem pretty straight forward here. The could move Shaw out with no real implications. Using LTIR lowered their cap by about 200k, that sticks for the season.

Go (frank) yourself

Stop trying to swallow sam whole.

He gone

Lol. You write like you're a 12 year old girl sending these players letters each week. My God, you even give them extremely juvenile nicknames.

Like I said, post lime that are the reason no one takes you seriously.

So much for Miami being a threat in the AFC East
- Michael Pachla

David Dwork, Panthers beat reporter, tweeted while watching the game from London,

Suggestion: The winner of this game gets relegated to the SEC.

The loser goes to the ACC.

If the Sabres need to retain a little on Eichel to get an excellent return, they need to consider it.
- kingcong39

It's jack eichel, he will already get you an excellent.

Ask the leafs how holding even a small amount of salary worked for them.

You don't retain on eichel in a salary cap era.

That's what you see below regarding what is being said above, if you're not sure what to look for:

How is Eichel getting an excellent return in his current condition and the cap situation of many teams that would want him?

Cong is right on this. It's a really strange situation. Usually they'd have to pay off someone to take his hit. In this case, they'd be helping us as much as we're helping them. Guess it looks better if we get a late pick, but I wouldn't say a word if they just did it for nothing.

Managing that # is the fun part of LTIR. TB is crazy good, they are at $81,499,288.

Im not one for overreacting to a tiny sample size.... but I have noticed outside of Buffalo media (Harrington, Lance, etc) people are pretty much universally still laughing at the Sabres. I was listening to TSN radio Montreal enjoying their meltdown (Habs and AZ by far worst 2 teams of year so far) they were consistently saying that Buffalo was the "worst team in the league". Even Mike Augello mocked the Sabres this morning on OTP Radio saying Buffalo was "planning the parade". I think it is unfortunate that so many years of being a laughingstock has made people so biased and blind to the fact that this is a totally different team under Granato. Who knows if they're evenm good enough to go .500, but Tbhey have not played like a bottom dwelling team. I am not gonna show my papers to be able to watch hockey, ut if not for the mandate i'd be at some games, theyve shown enough to deserve that.

Totally different how? Totally different like the 10 game win streak under Housley? Or the 10 game win streak under Krueger?

Seeing he is a top 5 to 10 center. He isn't making too much.

If they have to wait until he is healthy to trade him. Wait. You don't retain money on a player of eichel's cap, this isn't the MLB

It amazes me that some people complain as much when we win as when we lose.

No, you're totally right, they've never started hot and then poop the bed, my mistake. Let's circle back in January, and if they're still good, then great.
