NHL announces 21-game suspension for Evander Kane, for violation of COVID protocols

- Stripes77

I have empathy for him because his life seems to be spiraling but that was completely self-inflicted.

NHL also announces "that its concurrent investigation into allegations of domestic abuse made against Kane by his estranged wife, Deanna, could not be substantiated" and that there will be no further comment.

Kane is a total d bag. But his wife blaming him for everything over the moon and it being false is not a good look for her.

Again. I think Kane did something wrong and is probly in the wrong with 95% of it

I would bet most teams would.
- Stripes77

I think they'd occasionally travel with an extra player, but generally want those guys actually playing hockey.

I think you would see teams get very creative with how they would use these players.

Almost like a bullpen rotation.

We don’t know what’s false or not. Just what the NHL itself could prove.

Dude is the biggest turd to put on a Sabre jersey. I would not be shocked if he’s beat and sexually assaulted his wife. Fits his profile perfectly

Edit- and for Gil11 and Boss who at some point will post my resume, you can feel free to mark down how bang on I was about Evander Kane and what a degenerate loser he is/was

It's time for the NHL to implement a soft cap with a luxury tax. Last year with Tampa was a joke

I'm against it. A hard cap is the only way to keep things competitive.

So the covid violation is worse than 90%+ of the suspensions for egregious head shots and repeat offenders of such violations…

Tampa was what, $15m over the non-existent playoff cap last year? Competitive balance is a myth imo

There are endorsements in Canada and there's no income tax in Florida and Tennessee. The league should just be honest about what's going on. The cap is largely non existent anyway. Might as well acknowledge it and let the AZs of the world get a yearly luxury tax bailout

I don't know. There's still a big hurdle with it being on the other side of waivers. When they are home, it's really no different than Roch.

All points taken. But a soft cap makes the NBA top-heavy while MLB's luxury tax does nothing for the have not's.

The NFL doesn't count because their on another stratosphere when it comes to financial stability and equitable distribution of said wealth.

I'm with you. There's other ways to fix TB's cheating. If you aren't going to enforce the rules, you need to change them.

Good point but the have-nots in the MLB essentially survive by TV contracts and they don't try until they have a roster of cost-controlled youngsters.

Guaranteed salaries in the NHL also make it more difficult.

Yeah, but at least there's movement in the NBA, so that new teams are always coming up, but IIRC they're also the most skill based league, while hockey is the most luck based.

Basketball is the biggest strong-link sport where the best players dictate the outcome with the greatest regularity.

Baseball is actually lower than hockey, as evidenced by Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani

You can carry as much cap as you want but your game day roster has to fit in the defined cap parameters.

Done move on.

He's terrible. The funniest thing was when he would broadcast from home in a GIANT MASK to show his virtue. Even the Bills don't like him, remember when they suspended him for getting out of line w state secrets lol?

Its sad to see the NHL use this Vax card story to throw the book at Evander Kane because they couldn't prove any of the ridiculous accusations his jilted ex made against him and the Sharks don't want to pay him anymore. Sad!
