That's an odd recap, missing the end of the movie, but I get it. - cu45161
I did full recaps last season but not doing that this season as there's countless other NHL news sources with excellent content if you and others want to get full recaps there. |

Wow, you all are being really hard on Colliton. Give him some time, he’s figuring it out. It’s only his 9th season as a head coach. |

Any predictions for tonight? I’ll say a 5-4 OT loss after leading 4-1 mid-way through the 3rd. |

Colton Dach has 3 goals in two games for Kelowna in the WHL. Clearly he should still be on the Blackhawks. #ASF |

We should feel lucky that JC didn’t start with Stillman-Gus-Khaira. - DarthKane
That’s tonight’s OT lineup, followed by Strome, De Haan, and McCabe. Speed to burn! |

Toews and Dach started the OT - then Kane in for Toews and AdB in for Dach the latter as the game winning play was playing out).
Don’t know why Toews-Kane wouldn’t start the OT, as usual - they’ve been very good doing that for quite a while. Then come back with Dach-AdB or include Hagel (who’s been very good 3x3). - StLBravesFan
Not sure if it is relevant, but the big shooters played a lot of minutes in the frenzied finish caused solely by the coach's incompetence (not a jab at you, Sage). |

Agreed. I’m a big Kurashev fan but Hagel & Kubalik have chemistry just as Toews & Kubalik do. Kurashev has played well, but the lines need to be shaken up soon, maybe not today but soon.
DeBrincat - Dach - Kane
Kubalik - Toews - Hagel
Strome - Borgstrom - Kurashev
Khaira - Gaudette - Johnson - DarthKane
That wouldn't be bad, but Hawks could potentially switch it up in other ways that have worked well in the past, like putting 19/88 together with a high energy puck pursuit player. Some of the best stretches those two have had is in that situation.
i.e.
Hagel - Toews - Kane
Kubalik - Dach - Debrincat
Borgstrom - Johnson - Kurashev
Khaira - Entwhistle - Gaudette
Kane and Debrincat together is overrated IMO and they get torched a bit on the defensive side. Lots of ways to shake out the lines, but overall they need more guys putting in the work ethic of Hagel and Entwhistle on a nightly basis. |

As much as it pains me to say it, Dylan Strome should be in the starting lineup tonite. |

It's not a bad idea. He deserves a chance to get into some games and prove he is going to do what it takes. |

From last thread....
AS long as Crawford isn't elevated to head coach.
- 6628
If JC goes, there's gonna be a whip-cracker brought in to force these guys to play defense. Within a week, we'll see posts on here about what a brute the new coach is and how being a tyrant no longer works with today's youngsters. - mohel
The NHL needs more tyrants in the coaching ranks and management. Best place to start is by sweeping out these stiffs currently behind the Blackhawks bench and working upwards.
New Head Coach - Patrick Roy
Assistant Coaches - Michel Bergeron; Don Cherry; John Tortorella
New General Manager - Lou Piniella or Bobby Knight |

Mo, let 'em say whatever they want. This team plays sloppy hockey, and has done so for years. We as fans, simply endure it and accept it, believing things will eventually turn a corner. When it does happen, we'll want a seasoned coach to lead us. Without sounding hyper-critical, we haven't found him yet.

Panthers faced 47 shots against vs the Penguins Thursday, hope MAF is ready. - BetweenTheDots
Would you characterize the Panthers defense to be better than or worse than the Hawks?

I like these lines but like Entwhistle would prefer him over Strome but understand Strome deserves a chance .
I see a big WIN !! tonight 5 to 2 Hawks with Flower stealing the show . |

What has he done to 'deserve' a chance?
He is a spare forward because he deserves to be watching. And he should be sitting right next to Gustaffson in the press box. |

JFC listen to yourself. Don’t try to score first. Focus on playing really good defense. What is your suggestion, give the puck to the opponents and then start working on playing defense? If your goal isn’t to score first but to play defense how many games do you think any team will win using that strategy?
The focus should be on puck possession and yes scoring and as little time as possible playing defense. - paulr
This boggles my mind. We can blame the coach as much as we want but so far only Dinky, Kubs, Hagel as usual and Dach have shown up. Toews and Kane are zero's. Of the 38 head monster known as
"Borgstromguadettecarpenterkurashevjohnsonkhairaentwistleomfgstromesomedaypleasenylander"
don't start generating offense and time in the opponents zone it won't matter who the coach is we are done. |

Bobby Knight doesn't know what day it is unfortunately did you see him at IU last year? I don't think Lou is far behind... |

I'm okay with JC going, as he is not a friend or relative of mine. Some posters here are often worried about the feelings of the players, especially the vets. Just wanted to point out that if the Hawks can JC, they are going to hire a coach who doesn't care about the feelings of the players. And said posters will whine, which I too will enjoy. |

Number 1. Who anointed Dach as the Star of this team to be one of the 1st 2 forwards in OT ?
Number 2. Toews didn't play a game last year and all that's needed from him at that point in OT was to win the draw which he did. Jone took the puck back behind the net and then they came forward towards the offensive zone in slow motion, maybe quarter speed, van Toews retreated back to center ice where he went to the bench and Patrick Kane replaced him. Dach should have changed as well but he had the puck. He then got pinned along the near boards and banked it to Patrick Kane who took off into the offensive zone. This is the time when doc should have headed to the bench and to bring it could have came on the ice. Instead, Kane took an ill advised weak shot after that was deflected behind the net, wear a tired Kirby Dach just through the puck into the middle of the ice hoping that Patrick Kane would be there. He was not and the devil's were off on a two on one with Kane hustling back. Unfortunately he doesn't take anybody and veers left away from the net and has no involvement in the play whatsoever. It was a Great play by a GREAT player in Hughes, however, my complaint is and will always be why is Kirby doc starting the overtime. Instead of Alex Debrincat ? Overtime sometimes end in a matter of seconds so you have to have your best players on the ice to start the OT. Hindsight of course is 20/20 but I just wonder if JC learns from yet another mistake.
If I'm Debrincat and have led the team in scoring continuously, I'm thinking WTF ??
Just another example of poor coaching decisions made over and over for the last 3 years.
