No humor necessary. Sturm is the current assistant coach for the Kings but more importantly he was the German National team head coach and has done wonders with them. A team with no real superstars (yet) and has beaten top national teams with superstars. A coach that can do with little and have them play at a top level is what we need.

That's great news for them (Germany). But him being an assistant and not an NHL coach is a concern. ie Coliton.... I'm hoping for a proven coach who has credibility

Nylander. On a break away 4/2
- Abadseed

Up 4-2 despite two dmen not up to par. Doesn't work that way with Blackhawks. Krutl. in over his head, and Beaudin has issues, according to Theo's report.

Want to bet the team has better defensive structure and understands both how to be responsible and support forwards

Since the team is rotating in TV and radio announcers in some kind of reality-show-like tryout system, maybe it's time to do that with the coaching staff. Just keep going until you find the person under whom the team responds the best.

Kane is just terrified they will bring in Torts

(and I suspect he kind of likes having a cerebral

- pdx2ord[like himself] former offensive guy after all that time with Q - and, yes, I know he loved Q)

Kane had good things to say about Torts when he was coaching team USA. People here have said that the signing of Jones and Fleury is an indication that the team is trying to win it all while Kane and Toews have something left. We're going to have to replace JC with someone who knows how to win in the NHL, not Marco Sturm or some AHL rising star. I'd love to see Torts kick these guys into shape for two seasons, but I know I'm in the minority with that opinion.

There is Laviollette. He will wear out his welcome though about the time Kane and Toews contract is up though. He suffers no fools.

OK, I'd been hoping Shaw would open the curtain a bit on what is really going on - supposedly he said this at one of the intermissions:

@agonisti
The intermission comment by Shaw (who knows the current system) that the players don't know who to pick up & cover despite having enough players back in Dzone, said it all for me.

ETA: Shawzy also supposedly commented that the team doesn't look excited to play
YIKES

- pdx2ord

At that rate, Shawzy might be forced to nail down a new gig. Good on him, though.

Poor guy must be in a wheelchair or in assisted living by now. Upon further review, check the width dimensions behind the bench, along with accessibility.

Wasn't there a time when Hawks' fans sung in unison, "Good Night Billy" in reference to then coach, Billy Reay? I wouldn't have even remembered that until this very moment.

The team would be ready to go from the first puck drop and they would play defense.

Maybe Ken "Paul Bearer" Hitchcock?

Tortorella thinks very highly of Seth Jones - as a player and a leader. He’d be an intriguing option.

One really good thing about Torts - if you play well, you play. If you don’t, you’re held accountable and you sit.
