There’s so much wrong with their game. Too passive, bad gap control, not physical.

Every Islander site, page, and Islanders Twitter is hysterical right now.

Also, how the hell was that Pulock goal called back? Gudas interferes with Lee and that somehow translates to the goal being called back? That was an awful call. I would like to understand how these idiots came to that conclusion.

I missed the game and sounds like I did not miss much. Still not panic time yet.

You have to admit they aren't off to an auspicious start.

They look awful. I’m not denying that but I’m very confident they’ll put it together within the next few games. You see little glimpses of it. I’m honestly not worried. I’m really wondering if trotz is going to juggle his defense. He said he would and sounds like it’s going to be aho going in there. Who comes out? Chara or Greene is the easy answer of course but would he bench Chara? That would send a helluva message.

2 games into a 13 game road trip. Yeah, I'm not panicking. If they can come out of this 6-7 they'll be fine.

Maybe. Chara was minus 4 tonight.

Like I said if they can come out of this trip 6-7 I'll consider it a win.

I think that’s doable. I was hoping for 7-6 but I’ll take that

No, not panicking, but maybe a bit concerning. This team is built for the playoffs. But you have to get in first. I’d just like to see them win a game early in the season.

Last season's playoffs?
- JohnScammo

This web site shows that the islanders have not had a decent powerplay for a long time. And your last season reference has them middle of the pack in playoffs.

I'm wondering if they are going to split up Pulock and Pelech?

To early to worry, let Trotz pull things together. Last year Isles went 9 for 20 in the 1st 20 games and the next 20 they went 16 for 20. This team is just warming up.

Watching the different games this week there’s alot of rusty players out there.

I guess I misunderstood your question. I didn't say they had the best power play in the NHL. I just recall that it performed reasonably well in last season's playoffs, as opposed to the regular season when it sucked.

I would agree that they some success in the playoff's last year. My issue is consistency. There is no consistency. With the improvements to teams in the east they need to capitalize. And yes, I understand you realize it like everyone else. Just frustrating that they cannot figure it out.

There are three (3) very winnable games on the horizon. Trots needs to hit reset button. Preach Defense first mentality.

Entirely too much running around in both games. There needs to be more composure. Sorokin needs to forget last two and get back to what made him successful. Eating rebounds; being on the top of the crease and challenging shooters. Forwards need to backcheck. D move the puck.

Greene is not the answer !!! not in top 6 on a nightly basis.

Again the defense letting forwards breeze right by them while Sorokin slides way too deep into his crease. Ugly all around

Reason being the puck management has been terrible. Bad decisions, forced plays in the neutral and offensive zones, leading to TO’s giving the opponents quick transitions entering the Isles zone with speed.
For any team it’s not a recipe for success.
Also as JS said a timely save from sOrOkin would be nice as well.

It is. We knew we were in for a rough start to this season. Trotz will straighten them out. Let's hope it happens sooner than later.

He didn’t start hot last year, and I didn’t think he would this year. He’ll probably poop the bed a couple more times before getting back into his game.

Let's hope. As the old saying goes, the games you win in October & November you don't HAVE to win in March & April. Once the playoffs start, that's where this team can do some damage and make a deep run. Hopefully to a cup victory.

Chara on the ice for 4 of the 5 goals.... not ideal. I actually did not watch a lot of that game Saturday and told all my Isles' buddies who had us going 82-0 that I would be very happy to start 1-1 b/c of who we are playing the first 2 games. 0-2.. ugh.

The Islanders are successful when they are going 100% every shift. It felt like they believed everyone's "cup contender" noise and could just show up and win. I am sure that Trotz will get this turned around but I think it's very obvious that having both Green and Chara in the lineup is not ideal. This is a Young, extremely fast league and having 2 old and very slow D-men out of 6 is just not going to work.. IMO.

The next 3 games are certainly winable.. if we decide to show up and play.

"You thought you could win on talent? You don't have enough talent to win on talent alone.."
