I'd actually rather see that and have them sit Carpenter. Not sure Strome with Kane and Cat's a great idea though.
That line also has the potential to get hemmed in its own zone for long stretches. - HawkintheD

Or when you are slow as time and in a speed league....you have to cheat. Strome skates like he's moving a couch tied to his back. Likely why JC put him at wing.....
Havent' seen enough of Gaudette to say he's not an upgrade defensively over Strome. - SteveRain
Haven't either. I know he's not a burner but he's also not as slow as Strome. Not sure if this constitutes as hype but the guy put up some decent offensive numbers in VAN and maybe with the health issues behind him he can contribute some O in the bottom 6. |

THought the same thing HawksintheD
I would put Dach between Kane and DeBrincat and then move Johnson down to line 3....
I think somebody else posted it last thread, but what would a Shaw LTIR and STrome package get back for this team? Could they get a steady Eddie D man to allow a guy like Mitchell to get more minutes in the A?
The less they play DeHaan the better for everyone involved. - SteveRain
The Strome Shaw package will cost them Vlasic not get back.

Hopefully Gus gets the same 9+ minutes of ice time that Mitchell got the other night. - Rota's Rooter
With 4 of those 9 minutes on the PP.

IF and that's a HUGE IF...he's used correctly I can stomach it....
Plays PP only AND an offensive zone start with a responsible D partner AND responsible forward line that plays 200 ft of hockey.
Problem I see is that when you are thin at defensive depth you are asking a lot of the other 5 guys to eat up minutes to dress him, unless you go 7 D....So now we will see more of 44 which may lead me to stroke out tonight. - SteveRain
So...you expect the coach that left the 4th line out to take a defensive zone draw against the Avs top line to "use Gus correctly".........good luck with that.

Gretzky is out of his element on TV. - paulr
He was as a coach too. But he has more intellect on this game than all of us here combined. It's just a bit difficult for him to share. But I could listen to him all day and night. The rest of you can have Kathryn Tappen and whoever she's with, I'll take the clown show on TNT anytime. If 99 backs out I'd love to see JR take his place. |

As I responded to Dots:
Maybe he was taking the long term view and seeing if they could be trusted as a shutdown line? How did Q figure out if Kruger, who was originally signed to be Kane's center end up there?

JR has been "cancelled", I doubt anyone takes a chance on him again. |

Many of the Devils and Blackhawks are wearing hats around the rink today that say Jimmy on the front and Broadway on the back.
The two clubs are teaming up to celebrate the life of Jimmy Hayes tonight at Prudential Center. Was told there are a couple of special things planned. |

JR should ask Wirtz for a "reference letter." |

Never heard of a LTIR player traded after the season started. How does that work? Of course the receiving team would put him on LTIR. Would the LTIR $$$ be prorated on his 3.9M? Let's use Vegas as an example. Tuch on LTIR til about January. Once he comes off can they use part of Shaw's 3.9M as a LTIR overage to obtain another player for the stretch run?
If so then Shaw's contract and his LTIR status should be treated as an asset and not a liability? |

Ek has Strome going to Vegas or Montreal. Montreal would make more sense, they have more 3rd round picks in the upcoming draft. |

Kruger was drafted not signed. He was never a big scorer or offensive minded player, and was never going to be Kanes center. He ended up on the 4th line because when he came up there was no way he was playing on any higher line. |

IDK? But I think Stan would give up something to get a clear $7M of cap space.

Strome, Nylander and Beaudin (the obligatory French Canadian) for Poehling and Caufield as a sweetener. |

Dach looked great the other night and Hagel being Hagel. And all Kubs does is score |

Jones should be able to skate the damn puck out when he's on the ice for $9.5... |

Poehling got sent down again. Plus I think he has had as many concussions as Bovquist has.

Jones did a few times, but the fancy stats say you have to get a shot on net to register as possession |

But that's the question though. If Shaw's money on LTIR is something a team can use to use to somewhat circumvent the Cap, then it's an asset and someone is giving something for that flexibility and not the other way around. |

You can put him with pretty much anybody it seems. He's looked good with Kubalik last year, had some chem with Entwistle in the preseason.
Borgstrom was the other guy on that line and if he can be a bit more noticeable that line has the potential to do some damage. |
