am liking the haag acquisition...i think it was razor who said that the former flyer was taking some low-impact cheap shots with his stick and something about bringing a little philadelphia-style game to the sarbes...which in and of itself is a great thing...plus he blocked 6 shots |

Lot's of cozens jerseys in the crowd as well.

sounds like gus and kyle earned the respect of the kids in the locker room
that alone makes it a less toxic locker room then when the spoiled brat had the keys to the franchise |

donnie had a front row seat on how to not coach a team thanks to ralph - homiedclown
It's inconceivable that not only Donnie didn't resign after the first year, but also, that Ralph chose to employ someone that completely negates his coaching style.
Yes, you surround yourself with quality, intelligent guys. But you would think you'd find guys who philosophically support you. It's mind bottling.

it's hard to make a good argument on conjecture. But it sure is telling how the atmosphere from top to bottom has changed since the day Donnie walked in.
It still blows my mind that this team hasn't put an honest effort into practice since Teddy Nolan was here. I'm not sure why Skinner has begun to choose to practice hard, as this was seemingly a problem even in Carolina. So it remained under Bill Peters, Phil Housley and Ralph Krueger? Now all the sudden Donnie has him in a different mode? I mean, good for Jeff and good for the team. Just strikes me as a mutual problem. - TheSabresTaco
I remember listening to Krueger in late Feb at some point and he said something to the effect of "this might be our last practice of the year" due to the compressed schedule, or at least that was the reason given. This is how I picture Krueger and Skinner's practice relationship

Whoever gets Jack Eichel will end up regretting it. Guy is a dark cloud with a bad attitude. Whatever Adams gets will be better than having this boat anchor sinking them into endless misery. |

Joker had a rough night last night, I’m assuming that had something to do with it.
I still think Joker can be a second pairing guy, but it’s clear that Dahlin is not the right partner for him.
Power and Joker could be intriguing though - Pegullaville
Joker
CF% w/ Dahlin: 38%
Dahlin w/o Joker: 100%
GF% w/o Dahlin: 0%
Dahlin w/o Joker: 100%
The sample is very small.

As he should be. He may not end up being the face of this team when all is said and done, but I'd have no problem with him, and almost expect him, becoming the heart of the team on the ice.

Outside of them taking two weak penalties, I thought they were absolutely fine.
Dahlin was very, very solid in both ends |

I'm gonna wait 20 games before I give my full thoughts on the guy. I know what he did in Philly and how he was perceived. I won't draw a comparison to the other guy, but they both have heart and an edge. As long as he can play the game with a modicum of intelligence, he'll be a welcome addition.

I was glad they were named the 'captains'. I think they have lead this team for a long time. We all bash their play, but it shouldn't really be about their offensive acumen, as we've seen with our previous captain. The Bills employed this methodology in 2017. I keep telling you guys, Adams slept in Beane's office all spring.

I believe it. Didn't want to just be the scape goat for the roster build, or if at least was get paid to be it. - SDSabre
I think he also had leverage, the fan's all really like him.
Strange, only a few people disliked the move and wanted a retread dinosaur.
Donnie's working relationship with Adams is very respectful, 2 good humans working for 1 goal.

There's a guy who stops in after dark who still needs to see more from the qb before making a determination. Small sample sizes are my favorite.

98-99 is a lot more fair than 05-06. Not the winning pedigree of course, but the determination.

I thought he looked pretty good. He was physical all night and looked great manning the point in the o zone - Hank Balling
What surprised me was seeing Miller taking wrist shots instead of the big slapshot that almost never worked.
Seemed like a clear coaching decision, and it worked. |

guys have roles...am of the opinion that if they play said roles as well as they can, it's up to the coaching staff to maximize their effectiveness...eakin has his role, and played pretty well last night |

Well said. Couldn't agree more.
They're going to lose more than they win this year (they will be outmatched, talent-wise), but there's a shift happening.
I saw this same shift happen when Miroslav Satan left.
Stay. The. Course. - Powerslave
I’m sure.there will be more players getting thrown under the bus in the next couple of years. |
