Another question, are the Sabres at a point where they HAVE to take a bad contract or two back to get to the floor when they trade Jack? - gcomella34
Trade for Andrew Shaw from Chicago and get something with it.
4 mil right there

I would love to see them use their cap as a weapon come deadline time. |

Fun game to watch for sure.
The Don is the best choice this organization has made in 10 years...what the hell took Adam's so long to decide...Welp, at least he made the right decision!
I think we are watching a culture change occurring right in front of our collective eyes. That is exciting for the long haul of this organization...finally! The pipeline has some solid prospects, and hopefully that continues to bear fruit over the next few years to flow up to the big club.
Now go get the Eichel deal done Adams! |

Well said. Couldn't agree more.
They're going to lose more than they win this year (they will be outmatched, talent-wise), but there's a shift happening.
I saw this same shift happen when Miroslav Satan left.
Stay. The. Course. |

Currently the Sabres are about $2.75m over the floor.
So, one way or another when/if Ja_k Ei_hel is traded, they need to take back $7.25m in Cap.
How that $7.25m is portrayed as good, bad or meh is another discussion. |

Cozens got limited minutes last night but I thought he was fantastic.
Zone entry that lead to the first goal.
Back check that led to the Olofsson goal.
Few other shot and pass attempts that led to scoring opportunities.
I just hope that the fan base doesn’t turn on him if the points aren’t there to support the strong play. |

I'd like to think that most of us are smart enough to recognize the plays that you reference and see the value in them. He was noticeable. I think people only get upset when players look bad AND don't create points.
But yeah - not everyone will fall into that group.

Only on players with this year and next year left on contract. No dead weight in 2 years. Don’t do it. |

If I remember right, I saw him battling hard in front of the net on more than one occasion too. Gotta love that! |

Between sending Peterka down despite possibly being NHL ready, and Cozens being heavily sheltered last night, we can see that the Sabres are trying to protect them as best they can.
I’d like to see them take the training wheels of Cozens eventually but I get the reasoning |

either rj or razor mentioned last night that the team is in great physical shape or something like, "much better than last season"....pham after the game said the last 10 years he saw the worst practicing team he'd ever witnessed...
the country club atmosphere makes for terrible hockey |

No wonder those guys liked Krueger. They didn't have to practice and the only person who took poop from the coach for the team sucking was Jeff Skinner |

okposo and asplund had 22 shifts last night to lead the team...skinner, eakin and cozens were next with 20 each...conzensons had the second-least amount of special teams toi |

Here's why I hate measuring players by points
Coznes and Dahlin were excellent last night - 0 points
Skinner and Miller were two of the blah players - 4 points |

I would agree with this. I have been quite "away" from hockey but I did turn on the game last night when they were up 2-0 and was quite impressed with several factors.
I think the biggest one that I was happy with was when they were on the PP. I have never seen the amount of passing to get the right shot in years and years. I think on the one goal by Tage there was at least 7 passes before a shot even was taken.
I feel like they were playing "non-superstar hockey" meaning that they were better working together to get the best result as opposed to trying to give the puck to a superstar player and hope he finds the cookie jar. |

They're finally fast. They might not be good but they're fast. I've been desperate for team speed for years - Hank Balling
Fast & average/below talent >> Slow & average/below talent. Just being a buzz saw on the ice can give other teams fits, whether it's they have to make a faster decision that leads to a TO or whatnot. Fun times ahead. All aboard the Bjorkie train for me. Talk about a motor. |

This is what I worried about this team the most this year. The talent, while not ideal, is still there to at least hang with most teams in this league. The question is whether they're able to do it over 82 games. They need to find depth from somewhere.
