Deferring to him being top 5 in scoring one season to absolve him of his sins is the same to me as saying he's dog poop because he hasn't scored a goal in 18 playoff games. It's cherry picking a sample period to suit your own position on him.

He's paid do it all money, if McDavid or any other guy who is paid do it all money disappears for a stretch or shows a massive wart, you're damn right the hockey world talks about it. I just want him to be more complete and not give them any warts to talk about. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Marner has lost the plot in the playoffs.

He hasn't in the regular season. He's a magical beast when the hockey is far looser, the competition isn't quite as amped up, and teams don't turtle up in an effort to play super low event hockey.

Absolutely they were, we just weren't talking about them we were talking about Marner.

In fairness Willie was largely used on PP2 until late, it was one of my main critical aspects of the powerplay. I've long advocated for a balanced approach. PP 1a and PP 1b. Tougher to match against, the opposition doesn't have to survive one unit to face a second one which is weaker. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I agree he hasn't been worth half his money in the playoffs. My take is that he's not a paid employee during the playoffs only, it's a portion of his job and you can't acknowledge one without the other. He's earned his cheque during the regular season.

It's the most important "portion". The whole point of the season is to win. He has not elevated his game, and he has not lived up to his ticket when the team needs him most. They don't need 4 assists from this guy in late January vs. Columbus.

Boston has done it to him, Columbus has done it to him, and then Montreal did it to him.

He needs to buck it. If he wanted a grace period to learn with a passionate fanbase, the reality is he should have signed a bridge deal for far less money. Yes, he clawed and fought his way to I do it all money, any other guy in that price range disappears for a couple playoff games and every sports analyst in hockey is talking about it. It's not exclusive. 🤷🏻‍♂️
