Fun fact:

Florida actually does have a state income tax, but the Lightning just pay their players this way, and the IRS turns a blind eye.

No team has ever started a season at 1-2 and made the playoffs, since the NHL went to 32 teams.

Saturday's game is huge.

- Atomic Wedgie

Hopefully more then 1 guy in the top 6 shows up. Maybe Muzzin and Holl could also start passing it to their teammates instead of the udder team.

I have an idea, let's flip the top 6 and the bottom 6 so the bottom 6 is now the top 6. Bam, instant energy from the top 6.

Anybody have Keefe's phone number?

I can't wait for Subban and Stamkos to fulfill their lifelong dreams of finishing bloated contracts playing for the Blue and White, once they can no longer contribute.

Well be luckly if we get a couple years like Niewendyk, and not like Shayne Corson.

Maybe I’ll stop watching the Leafs too, see if that helps.

Just think of the top 6 could play the udder teams line 4 all night, we’d feast. 🥰

A month or so ago the dialogue on the Sens thread was focussed on what would be a successful season. Surprisingly, the key measure for many Sens fans was not making the playoffs...rather, the season would be a success if the Sens were able to conjure up winning seasons in head to head play against the Leafs and Canadiens. Not an unrealistic goal for a very young team engaged in a rebuild process. Conversely, it was also noted that if the Leafs lost the season series with the Sens it might signal a difficult year for the Leafs in an incredibly competitive Eastern Conference.

I understand when Leaf fans insist Saturday night is just another game. But for Sens fans it is a huge measuring stick of their progress in the rebuild process.

I’ll bet you that does. Easy bet for you, obviously

Friendly wager, of course.

He'll have some good competition.

I think Heiskanen in Dallas will give him a run for his money.

I’m sure Shanny is doing this just fine, he wasn’t much different from what I’ve heard.

Obviously my odds wouldn’t be good 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m not saying that I 100% think that he does win the Norris, but I’d say he has a (frank)ing really good chance. Are there any books that put out odds on NHL Award winners? I’d imagine Hedman is the favorite.

I expected somewhere around 9M.

Anyone thinking Rielly doesn't command north of 8M is in dreamland.

- mjones242

This begged my curiousity. 16 D signed long term for 7.5+ in the last 4 years.

'5 of them were young elites (Makar, McAvoy, Werenski, Heiskanen, Hughes). These guys are 24 or under when they sign and giving up their best years. Morgan is giving up years 28-35.

4 of them were UFA's getting a UFA premium (Hamilton, AP, Trouba, Karlsson) Rielly could get 8+ if he goes to market but there's got to be a discount if he's signing today.

1 of them was Seth Jones. I wouldn't think Rielly is putting himself in that category and Jones essentially forced a UFA contract with his trade demand.

The other 6 guys were Spurgeon, Doughty, Carlson, OEL, Josi, and Nurse. Doughty and Josi are in another world then Morgan. Spurgeon (7.5), OEL (8.25) and Nurse (9+) are maybe good comps for Rielly's camp.

The list of guys who got between 6.5 and 7.5 to stay with their teams included Parayko, Krug, Faulk, McDonough, Morrisey, Ellis, Pulock and Fowler.

I'm sure it's Rielly's camp pointing out Nurse and OEL and Dubas pointing out the others.

I still like the sounds of 7.5 x 8. Risk and reward for both sides.

So didn't see the 1st goal, but Leafs didn't ask for a review?

Is a review permitted based on a kicking motion? If so, I actually blame Keefe.

I don't think it's actually reviewable. Just up to the idiots in stripes, and they decided it was good.
