It sucks that Byfield got injured. He was playing pretty well in the preseason and I think would have contributed this year. Improved his total game and saw some more fight in him. Interesting that Turcotte hasn't moved the needle a bit more yet. - Chunk
Turcotte not in lineup again. Injured? Other?
Boqvist only 17 TOI in rolling over Arizona. Coyotes are very bad. Ladd in their lineup. But Coyotes have Roussell to stir things up. Back to Columbus: Werenski, Bean, Gavrikov, Peeke had more TOIj |

I wonder what changed over there. Oh that’s right…. |

None of those teams fit the definition of "rebuild." But I will give you "Theo Epstein is no genius." - rpeters01
Each of those teams prior to their success had to be rebuilt. |

All kinds of opinions on the system, etc.
Pretty sure multiple systems have suceeded to win cups in the past.
I've not really gotten into the "JC needs to go, and then they'll be cup contenders" thing, seems to me they haven't had the talent in some time to even be at that level.
I do think the fact the team continually comes out unprepared to play, is a coaching issue. Not saying you need a Ra Ra speech to start a game all the time, but come on man, opening night and you're not prepared. Seems strange to me.
That said, its one game, against maybe the most talented team in the league, so not sure its white flag time just yet
Agree with the earlier comment someone made though, JC probably can't survive 10 to 20 games of this.
Stan got more talent in the offseason, and he might have one more coaching change in his career, but it wont be more than that, and I'm not sure he's actually got that.
Time will tell, and I'm guessing not a long time if things done change. |

I think he have been referring to trading away Jones. |

I believe the Blackhawks for a while were very good at the 2nd game of a back to back with the same opponent. Boy wonder doesn't have that luxury this year. Can't wait to see our dmen tonight chase the puck to the boards again to leave the middle wide open |

If the opposition has the puck along the boards down low what do you think should happen? |

Isn't one of the main goals of hockey to let the other team possess the puck for long portions of the game? |

You certainly wouldn’t want your defensemen trying to check them |

There's a short video put out by NHL Player Safety regarding the Dach boarding hit. About 1/3 way down the page.
https://nhlrumors.com/nhl...se-valuations/2021/10/15/ - boilermaker100
In that video, you can see the third of three elbows Landeskgog connecting with the head of a Blackhawks' player preceding his boarding of a prone Dach.
A crap ton of intent to injure in 5-10 measly seconds. |

Find me another top 4 dman they can possibly target?
Enjoy Gus in the lineup for the defence already sucking.
Leddy consistently played top 4 min on a playoff team in NY.
But "lol" away.
🤡 - PatShart
Simmer big dog. First, is Det willing to trade Leddy? If Leddy is held in high regard, why would they take our collection of garbage for him (a dead contract and an offensive center who can't crack the Blackhawks lineup and is a stretch to crack theirs)? What else would be need to be added in order for Det to be interested? Everyone here is up in arms at the Brinks truck that Stan sent to CBUS for Jones.
Is Leddy a notable upgrade over de Haan, Murphy or McCabe? Maybe, in certain ways. Is he going to help fix what ails this team? I doubt it. |

If Leddy is available, it will be at the TDL so Stevie Y can maximize his one year investment. Plus, Detroit doesn't need a center, they have Larkin, Vrana, Rasmussen, and Suter on the roster.

The league is not interested in protecting guys, period. Anyone who thinks that is ignorant. It will take a death on the ice for anything to change. |

While it was only one game, it showed the gulf between the Avalanche (who were missing MacKinnon and Toews and should be scary good again - they need to show up in the playoffs though) and the Hawks. Sorry, but this Hawk team still looks slow and will need to change a lot (with luck, a new head coach) to make the playoffs. I sense that they will be a middling team with an outside shot of the playoffs, but their division is brutal. The Pacific Division is terrible and there is no way a wild card team comes from there.
Quick observations:
-Training camp and six pre-season games and the team comes out looking like they have never played together before.
-Too much scrambling around and positioning was awful
-Did Seth Jones play?
-McCabe had an awful game and was consistently out of position
-DeHaan is slower than molasses in January
-Kane seemed a little off (nagging injury?)
-DeBrincat needs to be less Jeremy Roenick and more Patrick Kane
-Seth Jones needs to be less Boris Mironov
-Score could have easily been 8-2, but Fluery saved their rears
-Entwhistle got demoted from the face-off dot and looked to be in over his head
-Toews played as I expected for his first regular season game back in over a year - it is going to take time to get back into the swing of games, but I thought he was ok
-Could have had Byram instead of Dach...just saying. Still not sold on Dach and he needs to finish his opportunities, it is not easy, but this is the NHL, not juniors.
-How short is Colliton's leash if they get off to a terrible start? Are he and Bowman on the hot seat?
-Not sure anyone on D played well at all - Stillman played with some feistiness and truculence, but he can't be the only one on the team playing that way
-Powerplay was the only thing that looked decent
Regardless of the outcome, I am glad that the season started and that the NHL is back to playing to full arenas!! - MileHighHawks
Sup Boys...long time... no commenting! Hope all of you are well. Kaner has an injury. How often does he ever put his stick over his shoulder after getting hit on the stick? Never. Also remember last year, Kaner never before fumbled a hockey puck, yet he was losing control of the puck a lot towards the end of the season. Just Sayin. Peace guys |
