Definately overhyped. 3-4 years ago people were talking about how Sandheim and Provy were untouchable. TK also, i dont understand all the love. He is a good player but so are others he couldve been traded for, Reinhart, bertuzzi. etc. - bradster
Everybody sucks.
We should trade the entire team for other teams' better players so we can then turn on them when they suck in O&B.

This is the truth. I'm not here to bash the Flyers and maybe I was a bit harsh in saying that they have drafted poorly, but it's average at best. They have had bad luck with injuries to some of their prospects, but none of the players mentioned are anything special. I'm just a disgruntled fan that happens to think the last 10 years have been the worst in this franchise's history and I'm tired of it. They haven't been a Cup contender in any of those years and they aren't this year. Ok, I'm done. - Phillywhiteout
I share your frustration, hopefully some of these moves make us a better team this year, then we can tweak and continue to improve.

Risto out, Brown already in Covid protocol and MacEwen with Visa issues. Nice way to start the season. We really need to find the person with the Voodoo doll that has had it out for this team, because its really getting annoying! |

Remember when that was going to be one of the best defenses in the league. |

Get used to it. All the Jakey apologists are gonna tell us about every assist he gets while on the PP, and yet he will still find a way to be a minus player as his team beats up on sad sack teams and loses to real teams. Looks like Ghost is off to a stellar start in AZ. If Ghost plays 82 games this year in AZ(a big if) he could be a -50!! Patrick almost 18 minutes of ice time for Vegas last night. Of course, they got smoked 6-2 by LA and he did nothing. Thanks! - Phillywhiteout

Hindsight i get it.....but with hindsight does chuck pick up brown since he still had to recall players and place hayes on ltir. would he claim brown after claiming macewen?
I get the visa thing...just funny that he could've played tonight for vancouver in philly, but can't play for philly against vancouver..... |

Oh and that is crosby with the voodoo doll. He is still mad about the teeth thing. Told bettman he would be the face of the nhl...but with a caveat. As soon as he retires, we are allowed to be good again. |

It is completely false to state that the Flyers have drafted poorly for the last 10 years. Hextall added numerous quality players in 5 drafts including Sanheim, Provorov, Konecny, Lindblom, Hart, Farabee as well as the future potential for Allison and Frost who I think are both going to be good players. Stating that the team has no forward depth is also false. When healthy, they have strong forward depth to the point that players like Laughton and Allison could be playing on the 4th line. - MJL
I don't disagree with anything you posted here. I mean, as a fan its frustrating when we see other teams like Colorado draft Rantanen at 10, or the Bruins draft MacAvoy at 14, and we say why didn't the Flyers draft these players? Now Hextall whiffed in a few drafts, but to be fair to Hextall, in the 2015 draft his pick of Provorov was lauded by every expert, stating Provorov was the best defenseman in that draft and the Flyers got him at 7! Well Provorov is a very good defenseman, but he is not Cale Makar, or Victor Hedman, so I think this is what frustrates people. In that same draft, Hextall traded up and got TK at 24! TKs name was being mentioned to be a potential selection from the 11th pick onward, in fact when Hextall drafted TK I thought Pierre McGuire was having an orgasm right on the screen! TK is a solid player, but unfortunately he didn't turn into Braydon Point or Nikita Kucherov, so fans are frustrated! I get it, I am frustrated too!
But it just goes to show that drafting players, even in the top 5, is not an exact science, and there is a lot of luck involved from the point they are drafted to what they ultimately develop into. I mean, you are right when you state Tampa was very lucky to draft Kucherov and Point in the later rounds and see them both become elite players. This just doesn't happen all the time. |

How awesome did anybody make them out to be? Prov was pretty much always pegged as a league-average 1D, nothing earth shattering. Sanheim a 2-4 guy at best. Farabee and TK top-six Fs. They all pretty much met expectations.
Patrick was obviously the huge disappointment... not even his haters would have predicted he would become completely useless.
Hart was/is probably overhyped too... but we'll see on that. I suspect he's still a league-average 1G at worst. |

Not where my frustration lies. Those players are quality players who are worth where they are picked. The bad luck the Flyers have for example when picking 2nd overall is what frustrates me. Patrick is simply bad luck in that the kid has the skill and ability but had physical issues and is a head case.

I agree everywhere except with Hart. Last year was an anomaly in terms of the conditions. Unless he can't rebound mentally, still has the potential to be a top 10 NHL goalie. Still young.

NoPa has played 2 games so far, 0 points, but is playing 15 minutes a night which means he is getting his opportunity. I'm going to continue to follow this to see what he does with it. |

The concerning thing to me is that his biggest strengths coming out of junior were that he was mentally unflappable and technically impeccable. Both of things just vaporized last season so quickly. Kinda scary. |

Yes, we certainly don't get any breaks its seems. I recall we were the worst team by far in 2007, but we end up getting porked by the ping pong balls and picking 2nd. Again JVR is a quality player, but he is not elite like Patrick Kane who the Flyers should have drafted. Getting that break in 2017 was maybe a make-up call, but we squandered it unfortunately. |
