From what I’ve seen I don’t mind this at all. 4 th liner. Has some toughness. Has fought a bunch of heavyweights and scored a couple points. We will see.

He’s not a big producer, but definitely will help. He’s a physical tough guy who won’t hurt you. He’s a 4th line guy on a team that has other 4th line talent but don’t have his particular skill sets. Low risk move that could pay some dividends for sure.

Thanks for posting. He’s actually from Prince Edward Island which is in my neck of the woods. Hope he does well.

Check out some of his fights. Kid can throw and will with anyone. Nurse Kassian Brady t. No problem with him as the 12th-13th forward.

MacEwen in 2016-17 had 74 points in 66 games in the Q. With those numbers and his size it kind of makes you wonder how he passes through 7 rounds of the draft. Is skating or something else an obvious issue?

He’s done well in the ahl. Maybe in time he can produce like Asham. But wouldn’t expect anything crazy in the nhl. Physical player the team was lacking. NOw has two. Maybe three.

Let’s see how he fits in. Toughness and can be inserted when needed. I see he has scored a bit in the a.

He was draft eligible in 2014 and playing in Junior A. Not many guys get drafted out of the Maritime league.

By 16-17 he was a 20+ yo overager beating up on teens -- the #'s are less impressive when you put that into consideration.

Guy isn't talentless... think a poor man's Dale Weise. As a tough guy... he loses too many fights to really be a deterrent.

Late to the party as always but personally would love to see Kapanen suit up for the Alum. Not many Flyers fans have anything but respect for the gritty Fin. Brashear, Knuble and of course JR would be fun additions at some point in time but Kap's one I would kill to see again, Hated how his Flyers and NHL career ended.

Nice story until you stop and realize that they forked Buchnevich's cash over to Goodrow and Reaves. And Blais is an RFA after this season to boot.
- Tomahawk

Short term deals not the term that Buchnevich wanted. Also paying 3 starters with the money they would have paid Buchnevich. Again cap management. You can only have certain number guys making 6M plus and will be extending Fox..Kakko ..Lafreniere soon

That's false. They would have no problem fitting Buchnevich in under the cap.
- MJL

Not true at all...they could have fit him in for this year but then he would have been a UFA and with extending Zibanejad...Shesterkin..Lindgren and having to extend Fox etc in next yr or 2 they could not afford him. He was traded because of the Cap no other reason. He is a good player but like Hayes not worth 7M though he is better then Hayes

Same response. Two years and they will be a cap team.

Nothing to do with being able to fit Buchnevich in. It's simple math.

You don't have it correct. They could fit him in the future without much issue. He was traded because the Ranger GM wanted his team to get grittier and tougher and brought in decent role players but it is a cardinal sin to trade an emerging talent like Buchnevich to bring in grinders. If his ascension continues, he is on his way to being an all star level player. A really bad move by the Rangers.

Not too upset with the Zack MacEwen acquisition. Good numbers in the AHL and a bit of potential there. Will add some toughness to the lineup and chip in a goal here or there. Could be worse.
- dubc55

More than happy with the pick up. Young, tough, the potential to play. I’d rather see MacEwen than Aube-Kubel.

All posts were hockey related. Now you’re name calling. Last night a made up accusation.

Back to hockey. Rangers in a few years are going to be a cap team is what I said. Look at the contracts and who they need to sign the next couple years. No need for the length he probably wanted. You can disagree. Fully aware of how math works thanks.

Believe what you want but he was traded because he would be a UFA after this season and they knew they couldnt afford him. Very simple. Actually Buchnevich is a pretty first guy not a soft player at all . Strictly a Cap move. Yes they wanted team to get grittier and tougher but they added 4 other guys to fill that role. It was purely a $$$ move
