That's the best way to look at it. From a business perspective there had to be a better way. Now he's worth essentially nothing and he gets to move on for pennies on the dollar.

I still don't know, there are a lot of dumb GMs in the NHL

You seem to forget that Eichel’s value is tanked as well considering he has a broken neck

Kravtsov crying and refusing to report to Hartford is a very Jim Dolan-like thing to do. Oh, the irony.

Here’s something I don’t get: Kravtsov being demoted helped #NYR protect Hajek from waivers, w/ a slight chance they can get a late-round pick in a trade. But now they’ve pushed their relationship with a former top-10 pick to the brink, diminishing his trade value in the process.

Sounds like what I said as well...

The Rangers have had bad asset management for years now, but this is just a player whining and feeling entitled. If you are sent down, you report, light it up and you will soon be recalled. Chytil did it last year. For Kravs doing this same nonsense again doesnt look good on him. I called this out on him last year.

That's one way it could have gone. Also we forget that his salary tanks when he gets demoted, correct? Maybe he's tired of that? Also, if I were Kakko and the other guys getting thrown on the taxi squad last year to save a few bucks I would be pretty pissed at management as well.

they kept hajek (average at best on the ice and completely replaceable) safe from waivers and instead tanked a top prospect's value as both a player for us and a trade chip

It's beyond stupid that even if management could recognize that this was asinine they can't back track and even remotely admit they were wrong. They are going to stick to their guns and get a 4 rounder for him.

Remember when the future at right wing was Buch, Kakko, Kravs

There is one other angle I am thinking about here (still dumb). They told him they wanted him to be the 13th forward for a game or so and he told them to (frank) off and they said "Fine, go to Hartford."

Just spoke to Gallant, who made it sound like Kravtsov being sent down was more about other guys beating him out for spots. He mentioned Hunt and Gauthier specifically. #NYR

that is (frank)ing insanity

- NYRangers1124

Why? Hunt played well. Just b/c Kravs was a top 10 pick a couple years ago doesn't mean he makes the team out of camp! This entitled attitude towards making a NHL roster is maddening. Take out you tampon, go to AHL, play hard and force the NYR to bring you back! Why is this so hard to understand to Kravs and other youngsters and the fans that are always blaming NYR.

Just spoke to Ryan Reaves, who noted that his body “is a temple” and made to endure trauma like it did last week 😂

He said 10 minutes after the injury, he “realized it wasn’t as bad as I originally thought.” He said he’s ready to go tomorrow night. #NYR

in other news, reavo is a gem

Gotta put some blame on the player when this happened with two coaches.

i agree that krav isnt handling this well - and its the 2nd time hes done this so i get it.

"hunt played well" - really? i didnt see much but alright, like i said if you want hunt in game 1 fine. be upfront w/ the player and explain the reasoning.

but why why WHY are they holding onto 8 D (hajek)? b/c they;re afraid of loosing a below average D man for nothing makes no sense. keep krav in the box and move onto game 2

i dont think anyone who is upset with management is excusing the player. just that management *seems* to have handled the situation about as poorly as you possibly could. Once the player is gone we still have management and whatever they've turned that 9th overall pick into. obviously we are all joe schmo's sitting at our desks shaking our fists at the sky but, you know, that's what we're here for

Well, not compared to the production they get from Kreider for $6 mil, and there's also the fact that the Blues freeing up cap space is an asset in and of itself.
