By opening lineup does he mean starting at puck drop or just in the lineup?

Line brawl

If Wilson happens gets paralyzed tonight, I will look the other way. I saw nothing

Honestly I hope some stuff does break out. Need to set the tone tonight we aren't to be franked with anymore

To St. Louis:

Ryan Strome
Kravtsov
Matthew Robertson
Brennan Othmann
Blues own 2nd round pick

To Rangers:

Tarasenko
Robert Thomas w/ 50% retention for cap purposes.

Blues upgrade their center position, remove the Tarasenko drama, gain valuable cap space and get younger pieces for their future.

Rangers get the best player in the deal but assume all of the injury risk if Tarasenko can't stay healthy. Rangers also take on significant cap. Thomas adds a young center into their mix.

Tommy you always seem level headed, but I think you have lost your poop on this one lol. That’s way to much to give them. Tarasenko is always hurt. And that shoulder is held together by duct tape I imagine. (Although duct tape can keep anything together I’ve learned haha)

I think the idea of Tarasenko is ok, but no way can you give them anything more than Kravtsov in this deal. And Thomas is very underwhelming to me. He just hasn’t done much over his career and who is also often hurt

I just see a drop the gloves fight where he gets his ass kicked and that’s the end of it. Teams, and players like Wilson, now know the rangers are no longer to be (frank)ed with and that’s fine with me. An intimidation factor is certainly on the rangers now that we haven’t had in a long time. And it’s quite frankly the best thing I’ve seen them do since trade for Zib lol

hasn't that been the whole point of the offseason and every decision leading up to tonight's game, including leaving a player like nils out of the lineup tonight? I feel like tonight will come and go, and whatever will happen will happen, but we will not be satisfied because it will be impossible to live up to the hype. It just looks like we are trying so hard to be this team that nobody messes with and it's kinda silly how transparent it is. like another team cares that we dressed tinordi over nils? dryden hunt over kravtsov or gauth??? it's nonsense for the sake of nonsense

Every move was not for this one game good god lol

The rangers built a playoff ready roster this summer. In anticipation of taking that next step and make the playoffs That’s what they did, and that’s what they have. (Proactivenees isn’t a bad thing). It’ll all make sense then, I get that it doesn’t make sense now lol. But just wait til April a team that bangs, bullies, pushes the other team around for once, and crushes opponents game in game out. Oh btw, a team that can still score 3-4 goals on a nightly basis. And that’s being conservative

The one game thing to me is them setting the tone from game one. That they have seen flaws that they desperately needed to address and it’s unveiling is tonight

And I for one haven’t been this excited for an opener in quite some time

Embrace or don’t embrace, but the fact is we will all be thrilled soon enough when we see the product start to pay dividends

Nothing against a preseason well performing Sammy Blais; but this trade would make Buch's return look even worse than St. Louis media describing it then as a Blues' theft in exchange for only Blais they wanted to rid of, plus a 2nd rounder. Drury is unwilling in contrast, to likely lose only Hajek to waivers to make a roster spot for Kravtsov.

I mentioned then I was against Buch's low return, since Blais had been in his former head coach Craig Berube's doghouse due to lack of hard work during practices, also costing him desired ice time even when needed in the lineup. Blais could have been acquired at minimal cost, just as Kravtsov's trade value has dipped for the Rangers.

I was against Drury's holding delay with Buch, which resulted in the low return after at least 4 other interested teams could no longer await his decision; due to Buffalo wanting him as one piece in exchange for the unknown in Eichel with his neck injury & surgery needed, should he be able to play again thereafter at his expected level.

Had Drury re-signed a perfectly healthy Buch off his best season at a $1M to $1.5M lower difference in salary & cap hit than Tarasenko's $7.5M cap hit/2 years, the Rangers would be set at RW despite the Kravtsov issue, & still would have all the pieces you proposed to trade, including Strome (at Ctr. at $4.5M final year). That despite Thomas being a good replacement signed for 2 more years at a $2.8M cap hit.
