And in cringefest news today, our new marketing/PR department has been busy

https://youtu.be/XzGa8xW1cas

And, Toews, c'mon man...everyone who has lived here for any time knows Chicago invented the ferris wheel

Yeah, the Hawks tried this BS when Colliton first started and they dumped it after about 15 games because they were getting hemmed in every single game. Big hubub about Colliton speaking with all the coaches and "advisers" to get the team somewhat competitive. They changed it so they could actually get out of the zone.

There are several systems that can work in the NHL. You have to somewhat match the structure to the roster, but you also just need general NHL competence... which the Hawks haven't had in a few years.

I thought Q was fired because he couldn't run this new age defense?

Completely agree

I think the pk coincides with this coaches inability to set up a team structured in zone defensive system

Good pk teams fall for Makar's move at the blue line this team will just let him skate to center ice

- BetweenTheDots

I think a system with 2013 Hossa, Toews, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook etc. would make him a better coach.

Q was fired because he was no longer a match for what they wanted to do (actually rebuild) and he was ineffective with the rosters that he was given (old and deficient as they were).

Nicely done completely ignoring the argument about the system.

I like Stillmans game he might be able to grow into a reliable 20 minute defenseman, this trade with Florida might just turn out to be a real gem

We could get Carlsson back if we wanted too

So if he stays healthy everybody on here can crap all over his play and then expect a bonanza for him at the trade deadline. Makes sense to me.

I got a suggestion - pair him with Gustaffson all season and he take on the look of Larry Robinson or Denis Potvin and every GM in the league will empty their prospect pool to grab him for the playoff run.

You've obviously got this board figured out.

Hardman and R. Johnson are both waiver exempt and look pretty close to battle for a spot on the fourth line. Plus you have Attybarmakyan and Barratt as well.

If Nylander can round out his game he and Reichel could help out on one of the scoring lines as call ups.

Same for defense, lots of options!

There’s a good chance de Haan gets injured and a team can never have too many d-men. My guess, that’s why Stan signed Gus, the Hawks will roll with 8 defensemen.

I would rather see them get the disgruntled Rangers first rounder, Vitali Kravtsov, who wants a trade b/c he didn't make their roster.

Sure you get get something in picks, but I still like this physical player and he is worth the price of Dylan Strome, 24, than a pick.

Kravtsov will be 22 around Christmas.
Darth said combined with Nylander an 8th.
Not saying I refuse a first rounder from Rangers, but I am not sure what Dylan Strome gets you in draft pick return.

Caufield returned to college after being drafted. Raty will still be a better pick than Allan.
- DarthKane

He should be he was drafted higher.

Interesting option, I like it. He had a break out season in the KHL 2020-21 49 games 16 goals 8 assists for 24 points.

Wiz do you know which line he player on in the KHL?

You mean players aren't robots? I think Dots likes the table hockey type defenseman, that they only stay in those slots and never cross center ice. Question is do you draft the metal or plastic version?
- LAHawk

At least they don't screen the goalie.

The metal version of course

What most don't realize those other teams that run the same poopty version, actually pressure the puck very well all over the ice, including zone entries

- BetweenTheDots

Never saw a metal guy goalie with a good glove hand.

Very excited to see that line in action. It looks very well balanced in size, speed, skill and some grit. With the lower quality of opposition i'm really hoping they can be a very effective line and provide some decent depth scoring.

Do you think all three players could reach 20 goals?

- SchwiftyHawk

Hagel 7, Dach 7, Borgstrom 6 = 20.

Some discussion in past few days on whether or not the AHL is a good developmental league and how the Hawks compare to other teams in developing players at that level. While I'm sure there is some loose interpretation of what "AHL Alum" means on these various teams, the AHL published this timely graphic today:

- pdx2ord

The question begs, what would that look like adjusted for a team who originally drafted a player?
