Nick Suzuki 8 years @ $7.8 years. Not good for a Kubalik contract, but maked ADB's look like a steal.
- LAHawk

DeBrincat’s next contract won’t be a steal, he’ll get between $9-$10 million if the keeps scoring at this pace.

Kubalik’s contract will be an interesting situation. I’m thinking 5 years around $6 million (max). Otherwise he can be traded.

On Capfriendly the Habs page is a mess. How can NHL teams sustain this trend? The Cap limit is inching upward as salaries rocket. In the past clubs maxed to the Cap limit were very few. This year's list is scary.

Something has to give soon. Players on entry level contracts being extended to long term expensive deals before they prove themselves to be durable with sustained production is becoming a trend. How many of these will become future bad contracts for clubs as they struggle to pay upcoming talent?

On Strome, Elliotte Friedman reporting that he may be on the move soon.
- Theo Fox

Friedman: “I’m hearing stuff about the potential of maybe Dylan Strome moving”.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a more confident and certain statement.

Suziki is also a center, no?

It’s also in Montreal so that’s like $2 mil in US currency?

They all get paid in US dollars, in the CBA.

I was really looking forward to what you were going to say about the pk.
- BetweenTheDots

Honestly, I'm not sure I have too much to say about it. We didn't see too much in the preseason, the Hawks as a team don't take too many penalties. I think we know Murphy and McCabe will be the guys on D who take the brunt of it. Carpenter, Toews, Khaira and Hagel/Entwhistle are probably guys that will see a good portion of PK time. I think maybe Dach and Debrincat get some PK time when the other guys are in the box or need a breather.

If I'm just giving my opinion, I think the Hawks PK will be a little better than last season with Toews returning, but maybe still average when it comes to PK%. I do think the Hawks have a PK that has a better chance of ringing up the SHG now and then.

I’m not seeing Gus on CapFriendly roster, maybe I’m going blind, I am getting old.

Except for the defensive injuries and the resulting return of Gus (WHY DIDN'T HE JUST TAKE A CONTRACT IN SWEDEN?!?) I am psyched for the puck drop tomorrow. For better or worse it's going to be fun to see all of our questions slowly get answered.

I am one of the few apparently who is okay with Strome at the moment, trying to be objective and not forcing him into an "expected" role I am taking a wait and see on which version of his effort we get. The last preseason game was strong for him.

The rest of the lineup brings so much more optimism than last year for me. A big part of the that is the hope that Coliton's job isn't guaranteed given his stable doth runneth over with quality horses.

As expected, the Hawks placed Kalynuk and Shaw on LTIR then recalled Kurashev and Enwistle.

Elliotte Friedman has all bases covered, no matter what happens with Strome.

Completely agree

I think the pk coincides with this coaches inability to set up a team structured in zone defensive system

Good pk teams fall for Makar's move at the blue line this team will just let him skate to center ice

Per capfriendly 7.875M in Montreal taxed at 53%. Then there's escrow and agent fees. He'll probably take home 3M.

Nice to see Kurashev and Entwistle made it!

It will be interesting to see how the makeup of the lines takes shape over the next little while. Who sticks, who rises, who falls, and if they can find rolls for a few of the bubble players?

With the exception of a possible Strome trade I’d imagine the forwards will remain the same for most of the year, just the line combos will change.

Gaudette seems to be on the outside looking in, his will be an interesting story to watch.

This designation means Kalynuk will miss at least 10 games and 24 days, which will put him out until at least Nov. 5 — beyond the long end of the initial 2-4 week estimate.

I like Stillmans game he might be able to grow into a reliable 20 minute defenseman, this trade with Florida might just turn out to be a real gem

Charlie Roumeliotis @CRoumeliotis
#Blackhawks power play units:

PP1: DeBrincat, Kane, Toews, Johnson, Jones.

PP2: Dach, Kubalik, Kurashev, Borgstrom, Mitchell.

Two solid pairs, with a still a few players who can fill in.

So Gaudette and Strome on the outside looking in. Sure it could be better, but considering our roster, I’m okay with these lines.

I agree, it's good to have actual players fighting for playing time, a player decides to take a shift off, they can watch from the press box the next game

Nathan MacKinnon didn’t practice today, COVID-19 protocols. First, I hope he’s OK and it’s not COVID. Second, it would impact the game tomorrow if he doesn’t play.

Agree, i'm thinking if someone goes on a scoring stream they might get bumped up a line or have their minutes increase. Reverse if some one goes cold.

I have always been curious if Gaudette will ever build upon his numbers he put up in Vancouver 2019/20 59: 12 goals 21 assists 33 points with 12:23 minutes.
Vancouver expected him to become their third line center after that break out year, but he could not secure that position. Don't know if it was his health or lack of depth on Vancouver? Their lineup was really hit hard by missing players.

Hope he can put it all together.
