The Habs are frustrating, but not unlikeable. No matter what happens, they always overachieve to poop all over the Leafs. It's just heartbreaking really.

The Bruins are legitimately unlikeable though.

- TheMussel

Sure, Chiarot was very likeable when he cross-checked the (frank) out of Matthews to earn his bounty, and also likeable when he slew-footed JT to set up Perry finishing the job.

But he didn't lick JTs face after he was lying on the ice motionless

Wow thats quite the contract for Nick Suzuki. I think hell end up living up to it, but its quite the risk.

7.8 x 8 will either go very well, or awfully wrong.

I think it's pretty solid. Suzuki's a player... could very well be great value in 2 or 3 years (or even next year)

It could be for sure, I like him, buy I don't see him as a 1st line centremen on a contender. It's a risk, but I get why they did it.

He hasn't broken 50 points yet

It's the kind of contract that we wish Marner would have signed before breaking out.

If Suzuki breaks out - it's a steal.

Well to be fair, I don't think I've ever complained about Marner's contract myself

I do. Bruins are far more hateable. Habs are still kind of meh
- Canada Cup

Historically speaking, the Habs aren't "meh". Which is largely where the all-consuming hatred for Montreal has its roots in.

I find the hatred from Leafs fans towards the Bruins a bit ridiculous. They beat us in some playoff rounds so the recency bias is high. I get it. But in the grand scheme of things? Don't see why we're supposed to hate Boston as an organization, a team, or a fanbase compared to the Habs.

Good player, reasonable hit IMO, Habs couldn't afford from any standpoint to lose another RFA. People can say all day that Dvorak>KK and that KK wasn't worth the money, but the bottom line is that the Habs were humiliated quite publicly by a poophole franchise.

Actually a decent city to visit, as is Montreal. (frank) the Boston sports teams and the Montreal ones, except the Expos, they're ok by me. Jays vs Expos world series would be nice, (Jays winning of course) Could you imagine how pissed US media and fans would be?
- winsix

Oh ya Montreal is a good town, of course their sport teams can suck a d!ck, although I did like the Expos.

Great contract imo.

Suzuki is already at least a 6M player in my book.

There's obviously some level of risk but I feel like there's a bigger chance it ends up being a bargain down the line.

It’s not recency bias. It’s how I feel now. The Bruins are ugly (frank)s kicking over garbage cans and holding anti mask protests in front of hospitals. The Habs are wizened old men, holding onto a memory of past glories; sadder than hateful.

Agreed.
Although I dont look at the habs v leafs series as overachieving, I more look at it as the leafs simply being the leafs and choking in the most embarrassing way.

In the past 20 years why would we hate the habs anymore? They've been completely meh for that time...pretty much same with the leafs. For a while it was two crappy teams playing eachother. There really hasnt been much of a rivalry for a very long time except for what fantasies the media force down our throat when do play.
There is way more a rivalry between Toronto sports and Boston sports and the bruins have had loads of success, often at the expense of leafs as well. Boston always seems to get their man whether it be via trade or FA, while the habs...not too many people want to play there, no real big FA's sign there, once in a while they pull off a big trade. But overall, they're just meh. There really isnt much of rivalry in my opinion with them, its just seems out of habit.
I mean they can gft, but to me they are just meh.

Hey!

We've been to 2 ECF and 1 SCF since 2010.

We had our moments.

I can't stand Dermott, I just feel he is mediocre at everything... I think he is an alright piece in a future trade, or a waiver fodder to another team by the deadline, unless he shocks us all.
- aries1976

If we traded or waived Dermott and insert Lily. Tell me who’s playing when 1 or 2 guys get injured?

Are we sending out the bat signal for Marincin again? 🤣

That is some big coin for someone who's only played two seasons in the NHL and has never cracked 42pts. Yes, last year he was on pace for 60pts.....but almost 8m per for one season of that?
Jesus.
This contract is helping the marner contract look reasonable.

However, if he has couple of 70 plus point seasons, then it should be ok.
We'll see.

yeah, ideally they'd need a guy to play 2C, so that Dvorak gets the 3C role. Bergevin has been collecting bottom 6 centermen lately, so we'll see where this leads us lol

41pts one season
On pace for 60pts his second
7.8m per? Seems like a lot for that. But we'll see, he had a good playoff run, so good for him.
