As usual, people are putting way too much stock in the preseason. The games are meaningless and veterans are only focused on making sure they're ready for the start of the season. Wait until at least game ten before saying Duher and Mackey need to be on the team. Getting to work on their game in Stockton is only going to make them better anyway.

If Gudbranson can be physical and not be a total liability, he brings much more to the team than Mackey. One of the biggest problems the Flames had for the past few years was how easy they were to play against. Lucic was the only player you had to keep track of. They probably overcorrected with Zadorov and Gudbranson, but it's worth at least ten games to see how it works. Montreal made the finals with a bunch of big, slow defencemen.

Deuhr plays the Richardson Lewis style game with the plus side of potential scoring no way those two should be ahead of the kid most will agree rather lose giving the kid a spot then being told i told you so about the older slower vets being a liability

He had a good camp, but how do you say he offers potential scoring when he’s had no offensive acumen at any previous level. Some AHL time will be good for both sides to see if he can be more than a plug.

If we are talking about grit then yes, Gudbranson brings much "more" than Mackey. Gud also brings more blown coverage, poor passing/zone exits, and more giveaways. If these faults are áre part of the much more you are talking about, then yes I also agree.......he does bring a lot more.

Mange forced their hand when they brought him up. I am hoping Duehr will do the same.

First of all, thanks Trevor for the frequency of blogs. I appreciate the content.

I'm excited for the season to begin and look forward to what a camp and pre-season under Dutter will do for the team. They're going to be offensively challenged from the looks of it but if they can tighten things up on the other end they'll be just fine.

Vladar looks like he's going to be a good pickup and I'm happy Gawdin made the team. Hopefully he can stick when Richardson and Pitlick are healthy.
