Hindsight is always better than foresight, IIRC, we wanted Dubois who got picked by CBJ and I believe Benning got caught a bit flatfooted because of it. I believe he said afterwards that OJ was his second choice with Tkachuk third and Sergachev after. He mostly picked OJ because it was thought that OJ was closer to being NHL ready than Tkachuck or Sergachev and at the time the Sedins were still a year or two from retirement and they wanted someone who could give them one more shot at a Cup (we all know how hopeless that idea was)

After all of that it is why I ALWAYS want a trade down option in my back pocket. Yes I realize most ppl knock it cuz it’s no guarantee it works but if executed it would.

It’s rare that I like a D 1st round too risky. Prefer a C or well rounded scoring winger in that order.

Canucks cap looks good to very good for upcoming years.

Drafting will be what will set us up for long term success. Danil might replace Pearson once groomed. JTM will need a new contract being nothing good enough in the pipeline to replace him & usually cheaper to resign our own. Still could be traded if the right offer came along. Bo will resign imo. RHD is a sore spot & will remain as the PRIORITY & however it gets done will ultimately decide how far we can go. Easily the biggest hurdle to overcome & by far the hardest to accomplish.

It depends for me, I don't like a D top 10 unless he's someone like Ekblad or Dahlin or Hedman where you can tell they're going to be a Norris caliber D. Otherwise wait a round or two and develop then like they're doing with Rathbone/Woo.

With flu and cold season here, a good herbal supplement qeurcetin with zinc an excellant option for protection and other health benefits. Not posting to argue and name calling just trying to help with some options.

There’s a female line-person reffing the Cardinal game, excuse my ignorance but I’ve never seen that before…as the father of two daughters and one grand daughter I think that’s fantastic!!

At least they'll have equal opportunity to make bad calls like the male refs now. They'll hold deeper grudges and once a month will probably throw so many flags you'll think it's the 4th of July!

Here's a good piece on the trade from the Florida perspective.

They coveted Juolevi because another former Canucks prospect, Kevin Connauton, was injured in their final preseason game on Saturday. And the writer is quite high on Lammikko. Not much to say about Juulsen.

Thanks Carol. Lammikko was a player if he went on waivers I wanted Van to try for. I think he is an upgrade for 4LC over what Van is currently trying out.

Sutter? Or are you just talking about the Dowling/Petan/Dries crowd?

If this is the guy I am thinking it is,(I get the Finns mixed up a lot), he could be a decent 3rd line match up guy

Panthers fans(all 5 of them), say that he’s a defensively responsible forward who plays a chippy game, but he’s pretty limited offensively.

Could be a solid 4th liner

and to think he knew all summer it was coming AND that a spot on the roster was available. if he was completely healthy (and no reports that he wasn't or had lingering affects of covid), his initial training camp performance showed a lack of heart (on top of the lack of conditioning.)

If there is no age restriction maybe a 55 year old drama queen can come out of retirement
