Well.... you did post this....

These are all stats categories being used by you as "context" in an argument you've misunderstood.

- boonerbuck

fixating on the minutae to obscure from the real issue. The debate was started in ranking GMs. It has now devolved into winning %.

Fine, JB is a better GM than Hal Lycoe (whoever he is) because you can't argue with winning percentage regardless of era.

I didn't mention any stats and feel that context always matters. You responded to my post.
- RealityChecker

What context? Stats say otherwise & context is of no matter in this case. Wrong is wrong.

sorry I got busy! I’m on my phone but I’ll do my best to debate with you.

Of the 12 GM’s in Canucks history only six of them have four or more seasons under them. Hal Laycoe was GM for four months, of course he doesn’t have many wins or loses lol.

lol wow. I've been in Greens corner but this year is the kicker. He needs to diversify as a coach or git gone.

I still don't get the fan and media outrage when he didn't have a new contract . It was a gift being given to us and someone stole it from right under our feet

Green apples though...after 2 or 3 in a row, it brings back memories of sitting in a crab apple tree when I was a kid gorging on them and then getting the terrible sh!ts after which they smell pretty much the same.

I'm going to try a Werther's caramel with the green ones. Caramel Apples are good....

I posted an independent thought saying that you need to look at era (regular season, OT, loser point etc) when looking at win/loss stats.

I meant that in relation to the bigger/original argument of ranking GMs.

Booner wanted to take it to Lefty's point but I said that context always matters insomuch that I did not care about records (as numbers), I look at the whole. Gillis' record might be the best but it doesn't mean the best. Remember, my post was not answering any point.

I understand your point of view but Lefty & Booner were referencing winning not rankings overall.

Imo Lefty is only showing once more that JB can never be more than the worst ever in his opinion no matter what he does.

Lefty's claim was "If only ranked for winning, Benning would be at the bottom." That's what I debated with those comments.

I'll tell you what happened to me today. I cleaned out the freezer above my fridge this morning, I found a block of marbled cheddar, now I never buy marbled cheese so I was wondering how it got there and then I noticed the best before date, may 17, 2002, holy fuck.

I'm of the opinion that's it's subjective and the stats don't mean anything here when the eras and rules are different.

I'm no JB fan but I've been a Canuck fan long enough to know he's not the worst but part of me thinks that most of the 'bad' GMs got much less rope and much, much less financial support.

I come back to it's a subjective opinion and now the focus is on "win/loss" which is tangential to the real argument but central to the hockeybuzz bs.

If your comment I quoted was referencing the discussion previous and not to do Lefty and my comments, then my bad. My comments were about the later though.

Who uses the freezer in their fridge when you have a chest freezer? It had to be bought by the woman I was living with at the time and she passed to cancer in 08 so this is bringing back all kinds of memories.

Yes I agree much less rope. I’ll add JB had a lot of cleaning up to do & more of a unique mess. That said he still has to produce & it’ll always come down to that.
