I don’t know about that, however, it may be true. That said, his poor finishes have 100% to do with drafting Pettersson, Hughes and Demko…I think Boeser and Hoglander are the only other draft picks from him on the team presently?

Anyway, like I said, the team looks decent, if they struggle it’s on Green, not Benning.

If Podz and Rathbone make some legit contributions it starts to look better…especially if trade additions of Miller, Garland and OEL pay off this season.

Don’t like the placeholder players they have gone with this year (not a Benning strong suite) but hope Petan, etc prove me wrong.

Why is social media going nuts over that tampa bay player being waived? Suddenly every single analytic nerd is saying every team needs to claim barre-boulet. Never even heard of him before.

Really? Can’t they suspend him for not complying with league rules? Assuming he refuses to get vaccinated.

No don't think so. From my understanding, they can only hold him out of travel and not pay him for games missed if he stays with the canucks (per provincial guidelines).

A few teams have suspended players or told them to go away, Rinaldo being one of them, just not sure if they’re paying them or not?

Thomas Drance just tweeted…

“Believe #Canucks have placed Travis Hamonic on waivers.

If he clears he’ll represent a $1.875 million cap hit for Vancouver on opening day.”

Rinaldo was waived and told not to report to the AHL but will still be paid his AHL contract $. Tyler bertuzzi I believe will miss 30 travel games due to his beliefs and won't be paid for them but will remain with the red wings.

With Hamonic, I would think that he *can* be suspended for failing to report, but I'm not sure what happens to his cap hit in that case.

I'm thinking the waiver move must be the best way for them to know that they're clearing *some* cap space — more, if he's claimed. And it opens a roster spot, which I think they need, given that they've decided not to waive Juolevi, Hunt or Kyle Burroughs.

Anyway, here's the new blog:

Rinaldo had some guaranteed signing bonuses . He was sent down to AHL and the team told him not to report so he is being paid.
